Not true. In fact, he fits a particular NFL DT prototype. DTs tend to be the shortest players on the line...low center of gravity is great for the position. Aaron Donald (1st team All-Pro DT) is 6-0. Geno Atkins (1st team All-pro DT) is 6-1.

Yep. When I see this kid Deron Payne immediately comes to mind

Average height of DT in 2018 combine was slightly over 6’3”

Redskins list Payne as 6’3” 319

Again, both 1st team All-pro NFL DTs from last season are shorter than Sorrells. Donald, the most dominant and feared DT in the league is two full inches shorter. Sorrellís height is not an issue. Is it possible that a rating site may downgrade him for it? I suppose so, but it would not be justified in any way.

In the latest print edition of ESPN's body issue there was an article about body measurement inflation in all sports. Even after the NFL combine meticulously measures everyone, the media guides will still list the players as taller then they actually are by about an inch and a half.

I'm not worried about Jaquaze's size at all. We have a lot of athletic guys who can play up front on the defensive side at the ball. We need more depth at DT with some bulky guys who can plug up some holes. Also really need Green to make it in academically.

Yep, I played at same high school as Ricky and his brother Kent. Damn big boys. They have an older brother that was better than both of them, so they say. Never watched him play, good bit older than us. I believe his name is Joe Lewis Hagood. I also work with a few previous gamecocks and one of them told me when he first met Rickey, he just could not believe his size. Just a damn freak.

I totally understood your other post, I just don’t think the height for the position is all that important. I was just trying to come up with a plausible reason that he didn’t get an upgrade.

I think maybe the year Navy broke our hearts I went preseason and watched a scrimmage and asking ''who that was'' , it was Ricky and I remember thinking '' these guys look good maybe this is the next year we'd been waiting on'' ..
