Maybe its more than one of those 3..... that would definitely answer the full at TE conversation

The Opening Finals, set for June 30th, will have 7 on 7 competition. We'll have some good representation on one of the teams:

Len'Neth Whitehead is on the defensive side of this team....

I honestly don't know what people have to see in order to feel like any RB not named Marcus Lattimore was a good player.
Oh, we're just talking good, or even "really, really good" ... then yes. I didn't realize we'd want to bring in one of the best backs in the entire nation and just hope he'd be "really, really good". Sorry for the confusion, I just thought we were all talking about going to another level.

Davis is "next level" above every back we have had in the past 22 years - except ML. Id like the team to get back to the "level" we were at during Davis' three seasons.

I agree. Gonna be hard to change that man's mind. I've never seen facts or anything else work. Good luck.

I'm almost 66 years old. I've seen a lot of backs at SC. To me, there are 3 categories:

    I. Top backs to play at SC
    George Rogers
    Marcus Lattimore

There are 2 other guys who could have fit in this category. Derek Watson and Demetrious Summers. I didn't include them anywhere because they both left school. But both had the talent. There was another running back during the Carlen years who tore up his knee as a true freshman and never played another down.

II. Very good backs to play at SC
    Harold Green
    Brandon Bennett
    Mike Davis
    Cory Boyd
    Duce Staley
    Clarence Williams
    Thomas Dendy
    Andrew Pinnock
    Alex Hawkins
    Steve Wadiak

III. Good backs who played at SC
Brandon Wilds (could have been much better but for injuries)
    Mike Davis (the other one)
Ryan Brewer (remember the Outback Bowl against Ohio State)
    Daccus Turman
    Pat DiMarco
    Carl West
    Johnnie Wright
    Kevin Long
    Jay Lynn Hodgin
    Warren Muir

I'd like another in the first group, but I'd take one from the second group. The guys we have now are all honorable mentions. We just need someone that defenses have to keep an eye on all the time. We don't have that right now.

Exactly ... I never said Mike Davis was garbage. Just said that I would hope we could expect more from a TOP TIER running back recruit, than just really good. From Lloyd's video, it looks like he's a game changing type back. Why would I want him to be the next Mike Davis? I want him to be the next Marcus Lattimore that you can give it to and he'll either juke their socks off or run them slap over and take it to the house. Heaven forbid someone not want one of the highest rated recruits we've ever gotten to not just be "really, really good" and want them to be one of the best backs we've ever had.

Maybe we pick up Burch and he and Pickens can be the next Devin Taylor. You know, he was REALLY good ... but we kind of had another guy here that I'd rather those guys play at the level of ... but yes, silly me. There's no getting through to closed minded me.

I'm gonna consider Harold Greene and Duce Staley as being only a half notch below your first group but above the second group. How I wish we had been able to have Duce for 4 years.

I like your mentioning Jay Lynn Hodges in any grouping.

Harold Greene belongs on the top echelon with George and Marcus. Put Green behind the opines George and Marcus played behind, he might have been the best.. Great great back.

I almost did put him in there along with Brandon Bennett and Duce. Who can forget the last second dive into the endzone by Brandon against UGA that "broke their hearts." All of them had good plays during their careers. Clarence Williams and Kevin Long in the same backfield - both rushed for over 1,000 yards in a single season.

    Lots of good memories.

    You are correct.

Mom and Dad were at that game. Us "kids" watched at home at our grandparents house...

And I just realized, it's the 35th anniversary of that "Magic" season...

Cack, the Frosh RB that had his knee torn up was Greg Welch, if my memory is correct. Have no doubt he could have been one of the best to play here. Seems like he only played in two or three games before the injury. Had a monster game against ??? ECU, NC State???

If you are expecting recruits to be the next lattimore - or the next clowney - then you seem like an entitled woman. If Mike Davis is not good enough for you, then you seem like an entitled woman.
