I wouldn't be surprised to see Mark Dantonio hang it up at Michigan State.

Dino Babers will be getting some calls I'm sure.

Gus Malzahn could be on the way out.

I started to start this very thread a few days back.

    HOT SEAT

Gus Mahlzan - Auburn (most say they would be crazy to fire Gus, but AUB is 6-4 and likely to finish the regular season at 7-5)

Willie Taggart - yes, I realize it is year 1 at FSU, but how long will a program like that be patient with him? I doubt he is fired after one year, but wouldn't be surprised if after 2 bad seasons he is shown the door.

Larry Fedora - how long before UNC wakes up and cans this guy? He isn't the answer.

Derek Mason - I realize that it is Vandy, but how long do they suffer through last in the SEC East before they decide to at least try something new?

    HOT NAMES

► Matt Campbell - someone is going to hire this guy away from Iowa State soon as his name is already popping up on NFL coaching searches.

► Mike Norvell - the Memphis Head Coach is a popular name that will likely make the jump to a bigger profile school soon IMO.

► Steve Addazio - at 59 he may be too old to be considered for any of the major programs. He is at BC, but are there any bigger name schools that he would fit in that might soon come calling despite his age?

Dino Babers - Like Addazio, his age (57) could come into play. Is there anywhere bigger than Syracuse that will come calling?

Jeff Tedford - Like the last 2, his age is what stands in the way IMO. The current Fresno State coach is 57.

Babers at SoCal could be a whole lot of trouble for teams out west with the kind of athletes they get.

With a lot of his coaching career being out West, I think he actually fits in better there than he would in say the SEC.

He's 57, but if he is going to coach until he is 70, it would be well worth hiring him.

Tedford at Fresno has done an incredible job, too. He's a candidate.

Mike Houston at JMU (still gives me nightmares) is a certified BA. Whoever grabs him, probably UNC, is going to be greatly rewarded. Dude can flat out coach!

I can't see Addazio leaving Boston College. They are a perfect fit. Maybe if the Pitt job came open but he belongs in the Northeast.

Same with Babers. His system in a dome stadium is just a perfect match.

I think its time for a school like Vanderbilt to give Ken Niumatalolo a call. Listen, you aren't going to win football games playing traditional football. Its just not going to happen so why not make the switch to triple option football and become the pain in the ass that everyone in the conference doesn't want to play. I guarantee Vandy would be a perennial bowl team if they hired him.

IIRC the Navy coach doesn’t want to go anywhere as he already had the opportunity to leave.

I want no part in an option team coming into the SEC.

Auburn pissed themselves in Malzahn's contract. It'll cost them 32 million to fire him this year. It should bode well for us since I think we have them either in 2020 or 21?

Dino Babers is a good coach. I really can't believe he didn't get more traction when we were doing our coaching search.

Not sure what Vanderbilt would do. Honestly, as a traditional coach, Mason is about the best they could hope for. If they go the route of a non-traditional (or overly traditional I guess) option-based, it would suck from a headache standpoint, but it makes the most sense.

If I were Mark Stoops, I'd be getting the f' out of Kentucky. They have no QB, they're only superstar is leaving, and the defense is fine..but so what? I'd take whatever upgrade was out there before I had to deal with a Snell-less offense.

Also, I'd add Mike Gundy to the watch. It's been a downward trend and at some point, don't you have to cut bait? I know he's got a bunch of 10 win seasons, but how long do they let him be 2nd or 3rd place? It'll be a bold move, ask FSU, but it may workout in the end--a la UGA.

I wouldn't be totally against becoming that team that does. Could we win the East with a triple option?

I was listening to the radio the other day and people were talking about this. They were saying its only a matter of time before a school like Vanderbilt, Indiana, Rutgers, Maryland decide its time to be different and go all in on the triple option. With the current landscape of college football, these programs just can't recruit the athletes to play traditional football and play with the Ohio States. If they truly want to be competitive on a year to year basis then going to the triple option would be a great way of doing that. Basically that program would be raising its floor to 6 or 7 wins and being a pain in the ass to deal with each week but maybe not raising its ceiling past winning more than 8 or 9 games most years and then competing for a conference championship in a year where everyone else is down. It made a lot of sense but they said it probably won't happen because schools won't swallow their pride.
