But i agree it should have just been two.
And if it was 2 it would have been UGA-Clemson in the final
    I am okay with that
So Clemson not one of the two best teams deserved to play over Bama? That makes no sense.

Itís basically 12 since P5 championships are possible elimination games for teams.

    I'm for it.
Although I'm for doing away with the bowls entirely and going to a system similar to FCS and D2.

I know full well the bowls will never go away..too much money tied to them, but I can dream.

I think 6 is the best number. I'll take 8 though.

If this happens, we should join the Sun Belt and go undefeated each season.

Honestly, I could see the SEC getting 3 teams in most years under this scenario.

    8 is a dumb idea.

Honestly, we all know who are the TWO best teams this year, so they should meet and us just return to the BCS.

Also, a lot of the "influential voices" have basically said that this is NOT being seriously discussed right now. Those that are discussing it are the leaders of the conferences like the Big 10 that are being left out and they are also pretending to care about UCF. It's all a selfish view to try to get themselves in, when the best teams already are in.

On Finebaum just now: Heather Dinich, ESPN College Football Reporter,"Right now the Commissioners said that expanding the playoffs is not even on the agenda to be discussed at their next meeting."

You might think you know the two best teams but same was said back when OSU won the title in 2014. Just assuming who is the best, especially when they play weak schedules, isnít grounds for deciding a champion.

In college football you will always play too few of games to ever decide who the true Champion is, if you want to look at it that way.

This isn't baseball or basketball where they play 30-70 games......

There is no way that you should have matchups in a playoff situation where one team is a double digit favorite over the other team. Even in this 4 team playoff we have 2 semi-final games that have teams as double digit favorites. You go farther than 4 teams and you get to where you probably have teams favored by 3 TD's..... is that what we really want?

No thanks. I'd prefer the BCS.

In 2014-15 Oregon beat FSU by 39 points in the semi-finals and then OSU beat Oregon by 22 points.

In 2015-16 Clemson beat Oklahoma by 20 points in the semi-finals and Bama beat Michigan State by 38 in the other semi-finals.

In 2016-17 Clemson beat OSU by 31 in the semi-finals and Bama beat Washington State by 17 in the other semi-finals.

In 2017-18 Bama beat Clemson by 18 points in one semi-final.

So in 4 seasons, 8 total semi-final games, 6 of the 8 (75%) games have been decided by 17 points or more....... 3 of those 8 (38%) games have even been decided by 30 points or more......

This would seem more to do with people picking 4 random teams rather than doing the 5 P5 winners and at large as been discussed. Teams perceived to be best, have been shown on the field to not be as good as some thought. The BCS has plenty of blowouts and would have left out teams like OSU who won the title. Going backwards shows a desire to not find the best team. Advocating to go back to the BCS is like those who want to go back to the ncaa basketball tourney selection that only took conference winners. It’s left out deserving teams for sake of keeping the conference tournament special.

There are two teams not in the playoffs who could beat 3-4 of the current teams in it.

Nope, it's me telling you that your argument is weak at best.

Just let them all play.... why stop at 4? We can have 8! Why stop at 8? We can have 16? Why stop at 16? We can have 32.

So long as Bama keeps making it in the powers that be have no incentive to expand. If UGA could have won that game it would have helped the playoff argument to expand. Same for Pitt beating cu. As long as the undefeated / perennial power teams keep getting in there is no incentive$ to expand it beyond the current bowl schedule. Not saying UCF deserves the title but if a team goes 2 years with no losses they deserve a shot.

I think it would be cool to have 8. Do 6 conference champs and then 2 at large. Adds to the Conference championships. A team like UCF or Boise a few years ago gets a shot that way.

We just know that because the won in a 4 game playoff.
If it was just 2 it would have been UGA and Clemson.
    And i think thatís better.

Unless you go to 14 regular season games. 13 conference 1 OOC.
Then based on who has the best record thatís your conference champ

They said the same things just before they announced the 4 team playoff. My guess is that it expands to 8 for the 2020-21 season.
