    Default Good News Next Week?

Frank said he was expecting good news next week. Any of you guys have a clue as to what good news this may be? This could be a silent commit and we still won't know right away. Either way it was good to hear him say this. Frank is in great spirits and feels very good about next season. So do I.

I think he said within the next week or two.

Either way, im not really sure what it's about. At first I thought it was likely about Bowen and the NCAA, but now I'm not so sure.

Probably either something to do with Bandoo or Burns committing.

That would be my thought as well. If both Brandon and Burns commit, Frank will pass on Felton...which would be a risky move imo. Felton could become a linchpin for the 2019 class.

To be fair, none of us saw them at the gun range, so his assessment may have been correct.

Maybe something could be worked out with Felton for him to not be on scholarship next year. Since he will not play. There's more than one way to skin a cat, as they say.

You left out the part where he said this was at the time in pre-season practice and could very well change.

Shooting is something that can be learned. Look at Carrera, freshman year he could barely knock down anything outside of 10 ft and senior year he was just shy of 40% from beyond the arc. Some guys need to break their stroke down and rebuild it but shooting is the easiest thing to coach up over the course of freshman to senior.

Compared to Frank's previous teams at USC, last year's team had a larger percentage of player's that could shoot from a distance, unfortunately we couldn't do it consistently. I think the fact we didn't gel well for most of the season due to so many new pieces being brought in , the lack of an excellent facilitator to set up other guys and the improved depth of the SEC really factored into our shooting slums. But even then we still had more than our usual 2-3 guys that can actually shoot the 3. Booker, Myers, Gravette and Minaya shot pretty well from the outside last year. While Haase was good at times but was very streaky. Even Silva and Hinson shot well although they didn't shoot too often from the 3, I also assume that a healthy Holden was also considered in Frank's statement too. I think our biggest woes were missed layups and failed drives to the basket that really brought down shooting % especially against tough defensive teams.

He finally went outside because of his size plus he had more desire than most. How many games should we lose before a guy learns the fundamentals of shooting?I would never recruit a guard or small forward who could not light it up in high school.Wide open 20' shoots are not hard to make.

I thought the BB team from a couple of years ago was his best shooting team. They seemed to hit everything they aimed at.
