Hatchell did the right thing by stepping down

Let's see where Loyal goes next. She had many schools in her final list

UNCs entire coaching staff was suspended with pay. Anyone know the whole story of what went on there? I was surprised the staff was not fired when the academic scandal was being investigated.

Seems like almost every story about men's or women's basketball revolves around "kids can't take harsh coaching or correction" any more? They come from a completely new background today as reflected at most university's PC position. Thoughts?

Reports are that she made some "racially insensitive" comments. Which to me means she said some things which could be "construed" as racist or construed as possibly not racist, but either way someone didn't like it.

"The University-commissioned review of the program, led by Charlotte-based firm Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein, revealed after 28 interviews of current players and personnel that there were three overarching themes.

Here are the findings announced by UNC:

    1. Hatchell made comments that were racially insensitive, and when confronted by players and staff did not respond in a timely or appropriate manner. The review concluded that Hatchell is not viewed as a racist, but her comments and subsequent response caused many in the program to believe she lacked awareness and appreciation for the effect her remarks had on those who heard them.

    2. Players and medical staff expressed frustration with perceived and undue influence from Hatchell regarding medical issues and pressure to play. Despite Hatchell's questioning of player care, status and readiness, the medical staff did not surrender to pressure to clear players before they were medically ready.

    3. There has been a breakdown of connectivity between the players and Hatchell

Thanks very much for the info. She should have been fired years ago.

Hatchell was a scapegoat in the "academic" scandal as I recall. I'm smelling something else here. They're no called UNCheat for nothing

Well, it's unfortunate, but all I honestly care about is that we get Watts and/or Walker out of it.

[Edit] looks like Walker already commited to Notre Dame. dang it.

Walker has already moved on to Notre Dame. Yes on Watts and definitely Janelle Bailey if she eventually chooses to transfer.

Looks like UNC WBB have their new coach. Princeton's Courtney Banghart.
