    Default New site questions

Now that our favorite site is back up. I have few questions:

    1. I see long threads are listing the pages in order of oldest to newest. How to we reverse this and list the most recent pages first?

    2. Where can we view our reputation comments received? This used to be part of the Profile pge, but I don't see it there now.

You can change thread view options in settings. No idea on rep rankings. Don't know why I get a "are you sure you want to leave this page" box half the time either.

Does anyone else have to login every time? CT does not seem to remember me on any of the three browsers I tried it on.

Check your bookmarked URL. The old forum had www.cockytalk.com/index.php as the main page. It is now www.cockytalk.com/forum.php. You can also just remove everything after ".com" as well. I was having to login each time until I noticed the URL change. I fixed it in my bookmark, and all is hunky dory.

That was the exact problem. I changed it and it works fine now. Thanks man.

Has anyone else experienced the occasional "database error" message?

Still some "old" CT still lurking around.

It's because of the taters. For the first week or so after the site came back up, there was none of these errors. Now that they have returned, the collective stench of Busch Lite, seminal fluid, and livestock has wafted into the circuits thus clogging the interface.

I was getting a blank white screen on my PC at home for a few weeks after CT first came up and it was driving me nuts. No problem on my tablet or work PC.

After banging my head against the wall for a few weeks, I discovered I had an old IP address for CT in a Host file which overrode the IP for the new one.

    This is what I had:

    50.57.44.187 www.cockytalk.com

Anyway, I believe this was the root cause of my system time being 18 minutes ahead of CT's system time at the bottom of the web page.

Not sure if a hacker would have been able to modify the Host file without my AV software going nuts.

No DB errors on my PC after I rem'd out the IP address for CT in my Host file.

The system time thing was intentional. I noticed it years ago, and it appears to have been a workaround for some issue or another.

As for your hosts file, that IP is/was registered to cockytalk. I'm not sure why any malware writer would write something that edited your hosts file to a correct IP address. Are you certain you didn't do it yourself? Perhaps you were getting dns errors and tried that as a workaround?

Yeah it blinked a bit. I wonder if there's some errors in lying in the database. I managed a SQL database in Kuwait for a while, and we had an outage by a sort of self-inflicted injection. It makes me wonder if something like that is going on.

I probably put an entry in the Hosts file when I was having trouble with my ISP some time ago, but I wanted to see if the IP was registered to CT or if it was an IP used by malware of some kind.

    Thanks for letting me know.
