US played well and took it to extra time. US even dominated parts of that match. Mexico is a better team with more (potential) superstars but a good showing for the US.

they did great, the game was 50/50 till ot, they fought hard the whole time.
the fact that Mexico were at home and this Mexican team is probably going to challenge for a world championship make our boys look good. The youth Mexicans teams are stronger than ever, they won the u17 world cup and the Olympics. The level of the American game is only getting better, if the boys played at home, it would have been a different story, they probably wouldn't had 40,000 Americans on the stadium but it would have been still better because of the home advantage. Great game, hoping to see better level in years to come.

it is crazy how big soccer has become in America. there is no better example of the US moving more towards globalization than our acceptance of soccer.
soccer will one day be just behind American football in terms of popularity. The days of joking that soccer is for kids with not enough talent to play one of the three traditional American sports is over. |

Can you image somebody like Percy Harvin or Ace Sanders playing soccer? Quick, shifty guys like that would dominate on the soccer field if they were raised to play that sport. |

Not gone happen any time soon but it will happen. Simply because of the fact that you have to be so tall to play basketball, more kids will get more into soccer, players like Messi and Ronaldo are just as role models are Lebron and Kobe in America now days. I think it will but maybe in the next 20 to 30 years, no knocking on basketball but I honestly think it will happen.
