thats essentially the equivalent of bleacher report articles, so i'm not sure why they keep being referenced as if they have any sort of relevance.

It seems to me that most sports writers are giving nothing but their opinion anyway, no matter who they work for. Many have never played the game or played at such a low competitive level, that most athletes would not respect their opinion on issues.

Sports writers are trained in journalism, reporting, and communications. Former players have the experience that you've already given credence to. Bleacher report and fan blogs are written by fans who have neither journalism nor playing experience. Anyone can sing, not everyone can sing well. Anyone can write or have an opinion, yes, but not everyone can express it well, or research and incorporate facts into a valid argument or discussion.

Well, I am afraid that you don't know as much about B/R as you are alluding to. The content is screened by journalists and the contributors have to have journalism/sports writing experience. Is it as good as EPSN? Nope, but I don't care who writes an article for a company as long as it makes sense. After all, journalism has become nothing more than opinion laden pieces without real integrity no matter what the company the writer works for.

I've read that, and their FAQ more than once. I'm not saying that it isn't admirable what they're trying to do, but it's really not a good source. They're trying to improve, but their articles are still laden with errors in spelling and grammar, and the homerism in the many articles is still prevalent. They need professional editors, and more control over what's published. Sure, they're screening a little better, but after you get in, it seems you're free to publish without oversight.

All I'm gonna say is, can anyone think of the last time you've seen UF's or hell, Clemson's "amazing" entrance broadcast in it's entirety on ESPN, because our's is at least once a year, and typically more than that. The volume in our place peaks during 2001 and the crowd roars in both anticipation and relief at the same time as the song crescendos, the team takes the field and with seamless timing the marching band plays the fight song. The announcers always have some huge compliment right before it happens, they call it a "spectacle onto itself," or say "sit back and enjoy one of the greatest entrances in college football." They've been broadcasting it as a tradition since Morrison told them he wouldn't cut the fan-fair to comply with their broadcast time, they showed it because they were impressed by that, and have since.

Why is this an issue? If you are paid to give your opinion, then that's what you do. If you are a reporter, then you report. There are different types of sports journalists. Somone who writes a report on a game is completely different than someone who writes an opinion on a game. Two different writers with two different expectations from their employer

Playing the game at a high level means nothing. Your best sports writers, play by play men, and other media types never played the game at a high level. Other than your color commentators, it is rare you see a top tier athlete in sports media, especially as a writer. You can report or give a strong opinion about a game without ever having played it. I think most would agree that Bob Fulton was a far better PBP man than Todd Ellis.

A play by play and someone that knows the game are not equal.

It's not an issue to me...that's my whole point. B/R and ESPN...I don't care. I could do without either opinion of theirs. I can formulate my own

Well sportswriters would have considerably less to talk about if they didn't give their opinion.

Also I'm not sure why not playing the sport would impact someone's ability to report/give opinions on a team or game.

Yea like two years ago bleacher report had another "writer" rank Clemson number 1. We were ranked in the 30's somewhere.

Anything that places Va Tech in top 5 is clearly written by a bias individual. Enter sandman is almost as overrated as Clemson's entrance. The song doesn't build there is no crescendo it is just the rift and suddenly the team pops out. Only thing cool is the stadium bouncing.

Did anyone see the comment trying to play up A&M entrance? Looked it up and it was pretty lame. Cool start with drummers but then cheesy over played R&B music and them run out randomly from smoke.

They should swap Auburn with VT and UT with Clemson and its a pretty decent list.

Having gone to the Auburn game in 2010 I have no clue how someone doesn't put them number 1 on the list
