Do What Feels Right
|
1. North Carolina — The Tar Heels remain a dominant undefeated team. No question at this point who looks like the best team in the country.
2. Vanderbilt — Winning two-of-three in Eugene solidifies the Commodores as the early favorite in the SEC. 3. LSU — The Tigers are right behind Vanderbilt after another easy weekend, but the first real test is this weekend in Starkville. 4. Oregon State — The Beavers picked up their first loss of the season Tuesday night against San Francisco. Defending national champ Arizona awaits to open Pac 12 play. 5. South Carolina — The Gamecocks are red hot heading into SEC play. Missouri shouldn’t pose much of a problem in the conference opener. 6. Florida State — The Seminoles remain as one of only a few undefeated teams at this point and easily could stay that way going into the Georgia Tech series in two weeks. 7. Mississippi — We will find out this weekend if the Rebels are for real when they travel to Fayetteville to face the Razorbacks to open SEC play. 8. UCLA — The Bruins got good wins over Southern California and Notre Dame, but the shutout loss to Oklahoma could be cause for concern. http://www.chasingomaha.com/college-...ek-four-2.html

Well UNC does look like the best team in the country right NOW. They havent played that tough of a schedule(certainly easier than ours so far) but they do have some quality wins and they are winning them all in dominating fashion. Having said that, I think we all know what will happen in the post season. The committe will give them the easiest path to omaha out of the whole field and they will make it there and then make little noise while there.

What's with the hate against UNC? They're a damn good program from which we plucked our head coach. Mike Fox has had them in an elite status for years now. As hard as it is to get to the CWS let alone win it, UNC has been in the championship series several times. Kudos to them. I fail to see how UNC is remotely overhyped.

With the exception of us in 2007 UNC has played absolutely no one to get to Omaha. Every year they get a national seed based on their overinflated W-L record and face the same weak sisters in their regional. Then they are paired with even weaker teams in the Super Regional. They play no one outside the ACC and then have 15 gimme wins in conference play because every year they play Maryland, WF, Duke, VT and BC. Hell this year they don't even play FSU. Sorry but they are not an elite team just because they have made to Omaha. They have made it there in the past because to their credit Fox has figured out how to game the system by scheduling crap teams out of conference and then having the luxury of 5 more equally sorry teams to play in conference. This pads their schedule. And before you mention the RPI as a means test keep in mind every one knows how flawed the RPI. UNC certainly does and have been the beneficiaries of it. |

The committe gives them an absolute joke of a path to Omaha every year so they make it almost every year and do usually have an inflated record. I think this really just ends up hurting them though once they get to omaha as they arent battle tested. This is why they have made it to Omaha five times since 2006 but have never been able to win it all and with the exception of 2006 and 2007 when they were runner up really havnt had much success there at all. |

Disagree on the quality wins. Seton Hall 3-9 (3 game series) @ home CCU 7-9 (1 game) @ home Stony Brook 4-9 (3 game series) @ home St Johns 3-9 (1 game) @ home Rice 10-7 (1 game) in Houston California 10-7 (1 game ) in Houston TAMU 11-7 (1 game) in Houston Davidson 6-8 (1 game) @ home Wake Forest (10-8) (3 games) @ WF Gardner Webb (11-4) (1 game) @ home High Point (7-9) (1 game) @ home Opponents Total Wins: 82 Opponents Total Losses: 89 They look dominating because the teams they have played have been for the most part garbage or average at best. Rice has been up and down since 2006. Texas AM is average. Not too impressed by who they have played so far and looking at their schedule who they play down the road in and out of conference. It must be nice to pad your win loss record both out of conference and in conference every year because that is exactly what they do. Every year same story. You may be right, perhaps I was givin them a little too much credit. Looking through their schedul i was considering CCU, rice, A&M, and Cal as quality wins. But CCU looks to be a little down this year and I believe Liberty will end up winning that conference this year. Rice has been a consistent good program for years so I believe beating them is pretty much always a quality win. However, they do appear to be inconsistent and were hyped up too much after taking their opening series over Stanford(who was just swept by UNLV). Im still not sure what to think about A&M yet and Cal is nothing special. Certainly, our series win over the taters is more impressive than anything they have done so far and probably our series win over liberty as well, they are a tough ball club. Furman was also a good win as they look like the favorites to win the Southen conference. Rider was also a solid series win, those guys will probably win the MAC. |

If UNC keeps it up, I can see us possibly facing them in a Regional or Super Regional

If the College World Series started today:
Pool 1: UNC, UCLA, SC, Oregon State Pool 2: Vandy, LSU, Florida State, Ole Miss I personally would love to knock UNC out, then knock Vandy out for the title.

I dislike the deference that poll makers give UNC baseball as of late. They seem to start them at the top and leave them there for way too long. Take 2011 for example, we were the defending 2010 champs and our record was better midseason in 2011. They still would not move them from the #1 spot and we were stuck in #2 for way too long. We all know how 2011 turned out.
I would say more about UNC, ACC, and tobacco row, but this isn't smack so I won't. |
