Default Easy Burger Recipe

Hey guys, I need a easy burger recipe. I usually just sprinkle some Laramie's seasoning salt on the meat, but I'd like to try something more. Nothing complicated and easy to do, anyone know a good simple recipe? They'll be fried instead of grilled, if that helps.

Montreal steak seasoning works well. There are many good pre fab seasonings such as

Lipton onion burgers are popular: http://www.food.com/recipe/lipton-onion-burgers-297829

I have used the cheap hamburger meat and it always seems to make the best tasting hamburgers on the grill. I had a older gentleman tell me about a trick back in the 1980's that really works well on a charcoal grill if you can find the old large paper bags that the grocery stores use to give out. If you can find one of those you could put your hamburgers on the grill and split the bag down the middle and make it look like a tent and cover up your hamburgers and this bag would trap so much smoke from the grill that your hamburgers would make you "slap your grandma". Like I said, it is hard to find the old brown paper bags, but they worked great and your hamburgers would taste awesome.

All you have to do is ask for those at the grocery store. I use them every year for a project in my class

Works every time:

- 1/4 cup of Dale's per pound of meat
- sprinkle some salt and pepper
- sprinkle some garlic powder
- chill for 30 minutes

Patty them out and cook up.

My biggest issue always seems to be getting them the right consistency. I either mix them up too much and they turn out more like meat loaf or not enough and they fall apart on the grill.

I use somethign similar to this that lets me make two patties at a time

http://www.williams-sonoma.com/produ...-burger-press/

It may be a little overkill, but the consitency is pretty good and I suck at hand making patties so it was worth 20 bucks to me!

As for simple burgers, my wife loves lipton onion soup mixed with worchestershire (sp?) but I find it makes the burgers extremely salty. I like to add a little dales and some gorgonzola to the meat. I love the tast of blue cheese in burgers.

Good luck!

Thanks that burger press looks pretty sweet, I think I may pick one up and give it a shot.

now that sounds good...I may have to try this next time. We made burgers last night so I am sure my wife will curtail my burger dreams for quite a while.

I too have to cook burgers inside since I live in an apt and don't have a grill, but I usually go with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. They always turn out well.

Have you tried using a broiler pan and cooking them in the oven?

We do the same seasoning, put a little water in the bottom pan, place the burgers on the slotted top.

Always nice and moist.

Grab a set of plain round cutters like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Ateco-5357-Pie.../dp/B00004S1CI

Take the largest one, put it on a cutting board, and press 8 oz of your hamburger meat into it.

Also for the meat falling apart on the grill, be sure to cook them with the lid down. I find that the convection heat helps keep things together. Oh and flip only once.
