Default How long until these records are broken?

I think some of these records could stand for the next 25 years.

MOST PASSING YARDS (SEASON) - Todd Ellis - 1987- 3206 yards

MOST RUSHING YARDS (SEASON) - George Rogers - 1980 - 1894 yards

MOST RECEIVING YARDS (SEASON) - Alshon Jeffery - 2010 - 1517 yards

Todd Ellis, George Rogers, and Alshon Jeffery are also the All-time leaders in those categories.

I'm not sure anyone is going to touch George's record.

I think Ellis' will be the first to go down, Alshon's would be next.

Agreed, nearly 2000 yds rushing for an RB in todays game in the SEC is just flat out crazy... if that record gets broken its a GUARANTEED Heisman.

Ellis' could go down at any point, I'd say its in real danger from here on out, just based on the arms we have on deck and the changing nature of the game.

No, he only had 1,100 yards.

Davis had 1,100 last year too.

Rogers record can be broken if they add more games. So far it's potential of 15 games, can increase to 16-17 depending on the increased playoff games. Crazy thing is he did that when they played 9 games right?

I also want to add, it's good to not break some records, because most of the time it means part of your team isn't doing well. See how well USC did in 2011-2012-2013 and I think the only record broken was JD in 2012 for TFL/Sacks.

Mike Durrah - Single season record holder in tackles - 179 tackles. Will never be broken.

Who was the last gamecock defender to surpass 100 tackles in a season?

Looking back, statistically those defenses in the 80's were the ones racking up the most tackles.

J.D. Fuller - over 100 tackles in three consecutive seasons (143 in 1981, 131 in 1982, and 121 in 1983)
Andrew Provence - 161 tackles in '81 and 133 tackles in '82
James Seawright - 133 tackles in 1984.
Roy Hart - 112 total tackles in '86
Brad Edwards - 130 tackles in 87'

Durrah was the best run stopping LB I've seen at USC including Seawright & Brinkley. Guy was an absolute maching & never got the credit he deserved. It baffles me to this day. Same with Bryant Guilliard, another really, really good player who never got a lot of pub.

How about our record of consecutive weeks being ranked in the top 25.....or number of home wins in a row. I think both these records will last longer than Ellis, Rogers or Jeffery records.

I could see DT having a shot at breaking Ellis's record this year...if not Mitch will have a chance if/when he takes over (I imagine if Nosovitch took over his running ability may take away a lot of passing opportunities that would allow him to break it).

Rogers record is safe for the foreseeable future. Its far too tough to amass that amount of yards in the SEC currently and the depth that we have at RB right now means that it is unlikely that any one back will get enough carries to even come close.

I don't see Alshon's record being broken with Spurrier here unless we have another Alshon/Garcia or Sidney/Mitchell situation where we have one receiver who is basically a safety blanket for the QB who just throws it in his direction when no one else is open (and even then the QB would probably have to push Ellis's record). How likely it would be to happen after Spurrier will depend on who takes over and what type of system they (or their OC) brings.

I was thinking the same thing. 2 years ago Dylan threw for 1,000 yards on 66/127.

Connor had 284 attempts last year with 154 rushes. Dylan won't run that much lol. So I could easily see 350 pass attempts for Dylan this year assuming the offense is run the way it ran in the East Carolina and Clemson games 2 years ago. Both games we threw the ball 40+ times. So, to me, that is definitely reachable with Dylan and like you said with Mitch in the future.

I think we could go another season without losing a game at home. 18 is certainly impressive. Hopefully we can reach close to some of these numbers.

I think you have to expect to see Dylan Thompson to at least approach if not break the QB record. I dont think we will see the WR yards or RB yards topped any time soon. Maybe TDs but not for yards.

Rogers can be broken with the amount of games, but then again in today's day in age you won't see the same kind of Back as George anymore.

George did that in 11 games his senior year.
Carried the ball on average 27 times per game.

Mike played in 12 games last year, and averaged a little under 17 carries per game.
And with the more games added + more blows to the running backs, I don't think you'll see a guy average 27 carries a game in 15-16 games.

This year in the NFL the leading runner in terms of total carries was Lesean McCoy, in 16 games played he averaged 19 carries a game.

Ellis would be the most likely to go down first, right ahead of Jeffery's

I don't see anyone touching George's numbers anytime soon...That is a lot of carries and George did it in a different era of football where you gave the guy 25-30 carries a game...today, guys are lucky to get 20 a game.

2. Will never be broken.

A little perspective, since 1956, where these records would/do rank within the SEC,

#1, Not top 25.
#2 #1
#3 #2.

http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/...s/sec/leaders/

I would guess that Ellis' record would go down first.

If DT has a breakout year, he could take it down. Below is the yards average per game, from without a bowl game(kind of sad if he did this and USC didn't make a bowl game), all the way up to the NCG.

12=268 No Bowl
13=247 Bowl game
14=230 SECCG
15=214 F4
16=201 NCG

If USC makes it to the SECCG/F4/NCG I can't see DT not breaking that record lol.
