Tucker’s Jonathan Davis nearly commits to Georgia Tech

Tucker linebacker Jonathan Davis, who has been overlooked by many colleges because of his height, said he nearly committed to Georgia Tech this week.

The 5-foot-8, 205-pound Davis said he “was in shock” when Georgia Tech linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary offered a scholarship on Tuesday, and then handed the phone to head coach Paul Johnson.
“We talked for about 30 minutes, and Coach Johnson said he loved my style of play and wanted me at Georgia Tech,” Davis said. “Coach Johnson felt like I could be an ‘impact player’ on offense or defense for them next year.”
When the conversation ended, Davis admitted he was so excited about the news that he briefly thought about picking the phone right back up and calling Johnson to commit. Then he decided it would be best to talk with his parents first.

Not to belabor the point but whatever his first name is, Reggie, Rannie the smallest lb in the game made the play that casued the M. Davis fumble. He wasn't too shabby throughout the game. I think J. Davis has that same potential.

South Carolina tells Tucker’s Davis offer is still good

Tucker’s Jonathan Davis, who was offered by Georgia Tech last week, said South Carolina called to reassure him that his scholarship offer was still available with the Gamecocks.

Davis said he had heard rumors that South Carolina had withdrawn its offer after landing commitments from three other linebackers, including Chaun Gresham of Winder. However, South Carolina assistant Ron Cooper called Davis to clear things up.
“Coach Cooper said, ‘We want you’ and I said ‘Good, because I wasn’t sure,’” Davis said. “Coach Cooper then said they definitely want me, and they are going to keep recruiting me hard.”
The 5-foot-8, 205-pound Davis said he was invited to the Georgia game by Cooper, but could not make it because Tucker played last Saturday. However, Davis said he hopes to make it to another South Carolina game in the near future.
Davis, who is perhaps the state’s top overall player, nearly committed to Georgia Tech last week. He also has offers from Oklahoma State, Central Florida, Louisville, and Alabama-Birmingham. He was electronically clocked at 4.32 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

i like him as well....reminds me alot of Greg Jennings that played at UGA and now is currently being payed to play....pick the kid up, he is a great athelete at the least....make him a sure tackler on special teams, give him the ball, let him learn from eCook or Stewart and play the edges.....do something with him!!! hell sign him first lol

Tucker’s Jonathan Davis, who is perhaps the state’s top overall player, was offered by Boston College on Wednesday.

The ACC school has maintained contact with Davis since the spring but recently intensified its recruiting efforts for the two-way star.
“They really want me at running back, and told me that I would have the opportunity to contribute immediately as a freshman,” Davis said.
The 5-foot-8, 205-pound Davis is being recruited at both tailback and linebacker by colleges. He nearly committed to Georgia Tech last week, and also holds offers from South Carolina, Central Florida, Louisville, Alabama-Birmingham and Oklahoma State

Spurrier has been known to give recruits a chance to play where they want initially and if they pan out cool...if not, we will find the best spot for them to contribute. I just have a feeling this kid is a baller and he will definately contribute somewhere!!!!

If this is true then I get the feeling it is only because all of the SEC schools had backed off of him for a while there. Now that we're back in the game we may be able to sway him back unless he wants to be a RB in that GT option/run oriented offense.

Well first off USCBaseball he said he wanted to commit right away when offered. But parents said wait until after you visit. He did visit saturday and not only did he love it so did his parents. He was very excited after the game saturday and its only a matter of time before its announced.

OK man...BUT he has said on more than one occassion that he wanted to play in the SEC....and, since he now knows our offer is still firm I just think its nowhere near over. However, I have been wrong before and I am sure I will be again. One thing I think we all can agree on is this kid can ball .....
