With all the major college talent on the Byrnes High School roster, QB Chas Dodd (6-0 191) has gone somewhat overlooked by the big boys. But that's starting to change a little bit. USC recruiters Brad Lawing and Jay Graham were at the school Monday, and Dodd was one of the players they looked up according to Dodd's stepfather and former Byrnes head coach Bobby Bentley. "Coach Lawing called last night," Bentley said. "They want him to come to camp. They want to evaluate him." Dodd has not been offered. He's getting the strongest interest from Georgia Southern. He's also hearing from Furman, Wake Forest and Auburn. Last season Dodd passed for nearly 2800 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Is he capable of playing another position? I guess I just thought with the low scholly numbers this year and Shaw being committed that we wouldn't be after another QB.

I believe I read somewhere that we may bring in quarterbacks to our summer camp and if they like what they see then they might offer another one.

QB Chas Dodd (6-0 191) of Byrnes attended a camp at Rutgers earlier this week and was offered by the Scarlet Knights. That's the first offer for Dodd who passed for 2800 yards and 28 touchdowns last season. Dodd also is getting interest from Wake Forest, Duke and Georgia Southern.

Rutgers is smart..they try their best to lockdown New Jersey then dip into Florida for the meat of their classes..now they could be getting a player from one if the best high schools in SC...it could lead to a pipeline bc we all know Byrnes players have no problems leaving the state.

QB Chas Dodd (6-1 190) of Byrnes has committed to Rutgers according to high school teammate Torian Richardson. "Me, Chas, and Marcus Lattimore visited Rutgers on our way back from Oregon and Chas committed," said Richardson. Rivals site www.scarletnation.com confirms the commitment. He becomes the eighth commitment of Rutgers' 2010 class.

Chas is a nice pickup for Rutgers. They are a good school and he should do well there.

Scarlet Knights land a field-general from Deep South
Chas Dodd, a 6-foot-0, 180-pound quarterback from Byrnes (Duncan, S.C.), has accepted a Class of 2010 scholarship offer from Rutgers of the Big East.

During his junior season, Dodd completed 174 of 307 passes for 2,397 yards and 18 touchdowns in leading Byrnes to a 14-1 record.

The Scarlet Knights now have seven commitments.
