Spurrier did go out and get a new OL coach after last year too. not like he was not aware of a needed change in that area. Yet in the same breath, Wolford cant go on the field and play for them. my point was that a coach stands on side lines and players play on the field. our coaches did not the turnovers that have killed us in the Bama and UT game. I know your still thinking that we have the players that we do because the coaches we have recruited them. yes! Thats why we have tried to stack up on our OL commits this recruiting class. They are aware of the need. Spurrier has not exactly failed compeletly at his job here. Name a coach other than Joe who has done better Spurrier, who has won more games on average during his stay here, who has had more bowl teams? We have more talent here than we have ever had. But we also play the most difficult schedule than we ever have too. And you are not successful against anyone when you turn the ball over. |

1)Our schedule is brutal 2)We are young as hell and last but not least 3)Our players expect to have mediocre success through the orange crush Until we can recruit like the big boys expect the same results and DONT BLAME THE COACHING!!! i just watched the presser and he said all i needed to hear!
"WE DON'T FEEL BAD & YOU GUYS OR THE FANS CAN'T MAKE US FEEL BAD" are you serious! if i played like they have or coached like they have for the past few games i would be pissed at myself enough to the point where nobody else would have to be mad at me, he should just say we had low expectations this year and were happy with 6 wins and maybe well get lucky and win 7, that way of thinking if whats wrong on the field!! |

Recruiting under Steve Spurrier has been good and bad .. Good because we have pulled in some high regarded classes but bad because we have misevaluated on a lot of those guys and the fact that we have failed to match the talent on offense with the talent on defense .. We lack PLAYMAKERS on offense and this is STEVE SPURRIER! Sparky Woods came from friggen APP STATE .. I was told that Brad Scott failed because he changed his offense from the one that was so successful at Florida State and refused to fire his D-Coordinator .. I'm sure you probably have more experience in watching USC football than I do, and I bet you remember those horrible USC defenses that Scott fielded .. I believe our Offensive Coordinator was Ricky Bussle correct? but he left to go to Va Tech, and I've been told that our offense fell apart after he left. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Spurrier and Holtz corrected a lot of problems wrong with our program but neither of them were capable of adjusting with the times .. They are stuck in their ways and refuse to change .. While the rest of the country does .. This isn't 1995 .. This isn't Florida ..

1. I was responding to a post that someone wrote in response to my original post. It's called dialouge which is what these boards are for. The person responding to my post was critical of me saying that Horn hasn't done anything special and that Odom had the same success as Horn has had SO FAR. Which is true. They said that Horn won 21 games and a share of the East which was something Odom had never done. I was simply acknowledging that he was correct, but that Odom had actually won more games several times. I also made clear that I like Horn but that after only one decent season, with another coaches players, we shouldn't be ready to crown him. 2. It's childish that you call me out after every post I have, not just in this thread but also in others. It's annoying and again, very childish. I'm quickly realizing that my thoughts, opinions, and some valuable info should only be shared on the pay boards and I'm to the point that I'm about to delete my account and stay elsewhere b/c of the way you and others act. |

EXACTLY! this isn't Florida and to start whinning we need to replace spurrier and that he and holtz is outdated are idiotic, in my opinion, at best! NOBODY AND I MEAN NOBODY will turn a losing program into a powerhouse in 5 years but I think spurrier may do so in a couple more years if people stop knockin' their knees everytime we lose. |

Steve Spurrier won at Florida because he had a system that was ahead of its time .. It was very unique and not only that but he had players that were better than everyone else .. combine those two things and you have a juggernaut. At USC, his offense has finished inside the Top 50 statistically ONCE .. and that was in 2006 with a offense that consisted of mostly Lou Holtz holdovers and a offensive line that was playing two WALKONS .. Let's not forget that he had to go with a mobile QB at one point that also played WR, RB, and Defense the same year .. He has kept trying to plug square pegs in round holes for 5 years now and with minimal results at best .. if the damn system isn't working them MAKE CHANGES TO IT .. You brought G.A. Mangus and Eric Wolford in to fix problems and to bring new ideas .. and we have yet to see anything that says "wow, ok, maybe we have found something" On the recruiting trail, we have missed out on far more offensive players than defensive .. This is what is mind bogglin because supposedly we have one of the best offensive minds ever .. and we can't get the talent? Especially at QB. Think about this. We have the great STEVE SPURRIER, and Reid McCollum (USC was his only BCS offer) is our backup QB .. This is Steve Spurrier, damnit, the guy is suppose to be the mecca of QB coaches .. Kids are suppose to be lining up to play for him .. And as a whole offense, we lack playmakers (Steve Spurrier's offense is suppose to be appealing to prospects right?) and has a oline that has been a borderline embarrassment IN YEAR FIVE .. Spurrier is all about saying we need to make changes if something wasn't working and he waited way too late to get rid of Hunt .. I still can't believe that our offensive line class turned out to be a bust (example of poor evaluation). This is year 5. The test run is over. This team is all Spurrier's players. He has established recruiting pipelines. He has made improvements to facilties. He has got USC media exposure through countless appearances on ESPN. The system is the same system he has ran since he has been here with the exception of he isn't the primary playcaller .. WHY IN THE HELL ARENT YOU CALLING PLAYS? Christ man, we brought the guy here because of two things: History of winning football games and his offensive mind. And isn't the fact that we have lost games this year, this has been a constant pattern every year it seems .. and what are our coaches doing to change it? Yes, we are young. But you have got to be able to keep up with the times. You have to be able to adapt. What worked back in 1995 isn't guaranteed to work 10-15 years later because the competition CHANGES.

Man I hope our fan base chills regardless of the way the season goes from here out. The ideal situation is for Spurrier to have good feelings for USC and then be the consultant for the next hire just like Eddie Fogler was for BB. That's ideal world, man.
