Stats for Arkansas game

Last in the SEC in pass defense at 264 per game.
7th in rush defense at 146 per game.
Last in total defense at 410 a game.

We have the 3rd best pass defense in the nation at 140 per game.
We have the 2nd ranked pass offense in the SEC at 237 a game.

It matches up well for us.

We are without one of our best pass rushers .. We are without our best Safety .. Arkansas will use a balanced attack because we can't stop the run .. Michael Smith and Broderick Green could end up being the difference.

We should be able to move the ball on them and score .. but can we stop .. actually, slow them down would be better wording .. is the question?

Hopefully their TB Smith will miss the game. He's still banged up. Maybe, just maybe if we don't turn the ball over we can win. I say we will either beat them by 17-20 or they will beat us by 17-20. That sucks because I never think on the positive side it seems.

I think until our Oline can block at least on a D2 level we need to run nothing but extremely quick passes. ex:clemson under Bowden. Oh that was soo hard to type.

Michael Smith will play. He was healthy the last game against E. Michigan, but Petrino wanted him heldout (E. Michigan is real bad). So Smith is 100% from what is being said. Just an FYI.

I'll take it right now!! BUT, Petrino has cut back on his rushes this year so he will be fresher in the 4th quarter. You'll probably see a lot of Dennis Johnson, DeAnthony Curtis and Ronnie Wingo early then Brodrick Green (big back) and Smith a lot late in the game. IF we ain't getting our asses kicked by then

I agree that our rush defense is at best, not that great. But lets slow down here. We gave UT 21 points in the first quarter, and they only scored 10 more while "rushing the ball". Lets go back even further...Ingram from Bama' ran up and down the field on us for over 200 yards. Yet he only had 1 TD, infact they only had 1 RUSHING TD.

Now that I got you thinking, hopefully, check this out. We've only given up 7 rushing TD's this season. 9 games, 7 rushing TD's. You do the math, thats less than 1 per game (obviously).

Our defense can stop the run, we just have to stop giving up big plays on the ground. I mean, 200 yards is nothing when you very well could have been beaten and only score 1 time. Especially when they get runs for 50+ yard gains 3 or 4 times in a game.

The problem with that is that Arkansas is the best passing team in the conference .. Even if we do stop the run we have to defend what they do best without some of our key cogs.

It's basically pick your poison and hope that we can slow them down.

Your coach and writers out there must lie. It said he missed the UF game, got only handful of carries against someone else. Then he hadn't practiced. Bobby said he has to practice and practice at full speed before he can/will let him play. Now maybe he did practice yesterday and that's where you are gettig your news, but reading the internet Monday night didn't lead me to think he was 100%. I hope he isn't. We've had more than our share of defensive injuries from August to now, so I don't feel sorry for anyone missing a game against us! :)

they are gonna run us into the ground unless Ellis figures out we need to throw in more physical guys when the run is on, or motivate our starters to sell out their bodies a bit.
