Pretty simple really. Most big-time players would probably prefer to play on national TV (ESPN) nearly every week as opposed to the Raycom Network with Mike Hogwood. SEC is where it's at so far as competition & exposure.

Check it out...USC has taken the lead with Parker - from the Beaufort Gazette:
Beaufort High star Justin Parker to take first official visit to Colorado Posted by bparker at 4:27 pm, Tuesday, October 27th, 2009 Posted in Full Court Press Just hours after playing for the Region 8-AAAA title at Summerville on Friday, Beaufort High star linebacker Justin Parker will hop on a plane bound for the University of Colorado to take his first official college visit this weekend. Parker, who had contacted the Buffaloes last week about an official visit, told me that he finalized the trip plans on Tuesday. During his time there, Parker will experience Colorado's homecoming festivities, as the Buffaloes take on Big 12 rival Missouri. The senior said that Colorado ranks "about sixth or seventh" on his current list of favorite schools, but this weekend's visit could help the Buffaloes' pursuit of the state's top-ranked linebacker prospect. "I've never made a trip this far, so I'm really excited," said Parker, who has garnered more than a dozen scholarship offers from renowned Division I programs. "Outside of going to the game, I'm not sure what's planned, but I know it's going to be cold." This announced visit comes just one day after Parker informed me that South Carolina had taken a slight lead over Clemson as his top school. The Tigers had been Parker's preferred program since he visited the campus during the summer, but after attending the USC-Vanderbilt game this past weekend and doing some thinking, Parker had a slight change of heart. "South Carolina will always be the first camp I went to and the first school that offered me a scholarship my sophomore year," Parker said. "I'll always remember that and I can tell they are really committed to me. We'll see what happens." Parker said he plans to take two of his four remaining official visits to Clemson and USC, with an eye on making his trip to Columbia during the weekend of Nov. 14, when the Gamecocks host top-ranked Florida. For more news on Parker's recruitment as well as his thoughts on Friday's anticipated matchup with Summerville, check Wednesday's edition of the Beaufort Gazette/Island Packet for his weekly recruiting diary. |

Wow that's awesome. Would be a huge pick up for us at LB esp since Norwood will be gone. Come on Mr. Parker, USC needs you!!

Hello all I am the brother that you have heard so much about. First things first it will be Justin making the decision and no one else. I will tell you the same thing that I have told him from day one, where you decide to go I will be behind you 100% I don't care if it's USC, Clemson or Newberry I will support him no matter what.

Cool. Hopefully your brother and the rest of your family see how much love we're showing Justin. Obviously as Carolina fans we'll be disappointed when he speaks positive about Clemsux, or claims them as a leader, so please don't take the negative comments personally. A scholarship to a good university is what matters in the long run. I'm a little biased and believe that the best university out there is THE University of South Carolina! As far as football goes, Justin will be challenged week in and week out playing in the toughest football conference in the nation! With all that said, please feel free stop in anytime. ![]() |

If he's comparing business schools I like our chances.

Yeah, it was like your gf/bf telling you she/he liked someone else when Clemson became his favorite. I guess some USC fans were stunned and hurt. I hope things work out.
EDIT: I realize my analogy is corny. Last edited by carolinacoast; 10-28-2009 at 11:07 PM. |

I'm loving what I'm hearing. This kid has a chance to come in and make a HUGE impact in his first year. I hope we land him. I hope he also understands that South Carolina had 17 defensive players drafted in the past 7 years as oppossed to Clemson's 14. We've both had four LB's get drafted in that time, but Clemson's come in with two in the 3rd round and two in the 7th round. Not only that, but we will be putting another LB in the draft (top 2 rounds at least) this year with Norwood. Talk about a future at USC. Oh, and the girls...no question where those are!

I can appreciate where Justin's coming from. The time and attention USC spent sending mail and everything to me just as a student compared to the one or two pieces of mail I got from Clemson is what made up my mind to go to USC. If they spend that much time on a potential student, I wondered how much time they would spend caring about an actual student. I still feel I made the right choice.

A LB with his size and a few nice sized DT's would sure tighten up our run D!!!

Hopefully Mr. Parker will want to come play for the best school in the state not Pickens Co. Tech. Like the poster said above hopefully he wants to play on national tv all the time and not Raycom and pay per view like the taters.

Don't sell Clemson short on TV exposure. They are one of the top schools in the country when it comes to appearances on ESPN 360. The picture can be a little fuzzy when your computer screen is larger than 15" but they usually have more than one camera, so you get two views - at least. It is a lot better than the stationary camera they have for the baseball games on the computer.
