Ok...some factors to consider:

Soccer has 4 refs at this level: One center ref to cover a field that is 120 x 70. He can't see everything and is focused on where the ball is at the time. 1 ref is responsible for subs and does not call fouls. His job is to make sure that subs are legal and that extra players don't sneak on. The 2 Assistant Refs or AR's...their main job is to watch for offsides. They can call fouls, but only one of them is on each half of the field and on different sides of the pitch. If there is a foul away from them, there is a good chance that the ref might not see it.

Yes, there are tons of dirty little things that go on in soccer...hair pulling, jersey pulling, fingers between ribs, nut shots, etc...but those are not an attempt to injure someone permanently. When she went in for that "hard tackle" as another poster put it, that was a highly illegal tackle for two reasons: 1. She went in from the back 2. She went for the knees. That girl is a dirty player and has no business playing at that level. She was trying to end someone's season/career. Soccer is about finesse, not brute strength.

Unsurprisingly, she said she let her emotions get the best of her and she is sorry. Like, I have said, some women you just shouldn't mess with, and that is from experience. Hopefully, she can stay in school and get a degree and a career in something that she likes. If she still wants to play soccer she needs be determined not let her emotions rule her again. I can understand how she feels as a person who was bullied as a child but at some point you just have to grow up and often times you have to learn that the hard way.
