The pac-10 already has more media markets than the SEC. We get national distribution because our football is good and is entertaining to watch, not because we have a school in that particular state.

But the pac-10 is a one-dog show. if they expand, and increase their footprint, then Slive will respond. You can believe otherwise all you want, but mark my words...if the pac-10 goes to 16, then the SEC will respond, and they'll do so in such a way to where their current media contract will have to be renegotiated.

There's the problem, the economy is in the crapper, I don't see how it gets us more money per school plus the money to cover additional schools.

economy may be in the crapper- which actually leads more credence to the restructuring of media contracts. during a bad economy, people are more likely to stay home to watch a game than go to the stadium. this whole restructuring of media contracts is all about how many households are watching particular games.

The only expansion that makes sense is if we get texas. But I don't see it happening. They can basically create their own network in the new big 12. The SEC is being more long-term greedy. Yeah you maximize you media rights revenues by creating a network, but we get more wide distribution, in essence more exposure for the SEC and its teams leading to additional greater national interest and licensing revenues, better bowl payouts (see, Gator Bowl dropping the ACC like it's hot to get in the middle of the SEC bowl pecking order).

this kills all collegiate sports the tournaments for baseball basketball and soccer would be screwed imagine texas playing all the way up in pullman(washington state) on a week night for basketball having class the next day...? travel would be screwed and now its making college more about athletics than academics and all about greedy people just shows how corrupt things are... i strongly disagree but Nebraska makes their formal statement today
