I think when we discuss this issue about a certain win versus a win over klempzun and which one do you pick,falls on the fact the folks that would rather beat klempzun have been born and raised in this state....The others who hold a win over klempzun as the lesser value are not from the state....Not all... mind you, but for the most part I think that is where the great divide is on this issue...

Lived in the state for all my years, and graduated from carolina...I want to beat clemson as bad as anybody, if not just to keep all their fans quite, but we have got to keep our eyes on the bigger prize which is BCS bowls and SEC championships. Just can't see how people make the simple statement beat clemson = successful season or loose to clemson= failure

It really doesn't matter where you are from, its a matter of logic. The team loses to Florida, but beats the upstate school - just another season.

I understand what this rivalry means, I am someone who hates them just as much as the next fan. I hate the color orange, hell I don't even eat oranges. I don't like anything to do with that school.

But this week is one of, if not, the biggest game in the history of our program and for someone to value beating a terrible ACC team over that win - absurd.

Im usually so drunk that I can't remember exactly what happened in the last half of the game (which has been helpful a few times this season). Thank god for DVR so I can go back and find out what really happened. I plan to be so drunk for this one that I will actually have to get my wife to order the Eastern Division Champions shirt. Cause I won't be able to see straight.

A win over Clemson and a loss to Florida keeps us in a local perception. A win over Florida regardless of the W/L over Clemson raises us to a new level. If what you are pointing out as "a great divide" makes those of us who don't hold your local pedigree, somehow inferior because we want to see the program raised to a national level, I'll take it. Clemson is, in this case irrelavant. You can stay in your back yard another 100 years.

Personaly I look at it like this Florida is the most important game, I also feel like if you beat florida a lose to Clempson is magnified TIMES A BILLION. So i put these two hand and hand there is no excuse to beat florida and lose to the taters sorry. beat the gaytors and the tayters please!!!!

If we win the east this Saturday, then we need to play our umpteenth string players cause I can promise that Clemson will try to injure any of our players they can in hopes that we lose the championship game.

I would say you are a nut but I never thought of it that way and i sadly completly agree with you. THose Bastards are that way and i think Dumbo would actually stress to take shots at us all night because he knows that the game between USC and CU could vary well save his job.

Secondly i hope he stays, But i want to beat them just as bad if not more than everyone on our schedule i hate something evil.

Clemson is important because they are our instate rival but they should ALMOST never take precedence over a chance to win a conference or division title...

Here are the scenarios and my potential reactions. I would like the fine folks here to give their potential reactions:

1) Carolina defeats Florida and Clemson: Easily the best possible outcome and I would sip champagne and blast fireworks every night in december. I truly, truly, TRULY believe the win would thrust the program ahead and place us at the big boys table legitimately..."Why can't us?" would not be just a slogan but a valid question and a threat to the Floridas, Alabamas, Auburns and LSUs that we are going to climb into THEIR windows and snatch THEIR people up, trying to recruit them so they better hide yo kids...

2) Carolina defeats Florida and is defeated by Clemson: I would be somewhat sad that we lost the Palmetto Bowl...for a few days....but then I would smile as I remind myself that the guys pulled it together and brought home and SEC East title...The season would be a success in my eyes and I'd probably even make a congratulatory thread or six about it....

3) Carolina is defeated by Florida and defeats Clemson: I would be happy that we beat Clemson but I will feel some regret that "all we had to do" was beat Kentucky or Florida and the team would be a historic team...but the win over Clemson may be enough to stop people from saying "oh, another late season collaspe" if we also beat Troy...instate braggin rights are always good I guess...but then again, Dabo can say his team play for the ACC title in the last five years and that their program is so good and powerful that the state's other big school considers beating Clemson their top priority...

4) Carolina gets defeated by Florida and Clemson: It will be the coldest winter ever. I will be a total nonbeliever all the way into Mid November of 2011 because I will know that the team I see early in the season could and likely is a total pretender when the leaves change colors.

Pretty much dead on for me except for #3... I'd have the same thoughts, but I'd add that 8-4 (assuming a win over Troy) is a step in the right direction and should be the new bar to judge success in future seasons considering how close we were this season. Expectations for 2011 would become 9-3 or better and SECE title.
