Cory Boyd won some awards this past week

Looks like he was voted as a CFL All-Star & Most Outstanding Player for his team.

RB Cory Boyd was named the Argos’ Most Outstanding Player and has now been recognized as one of the two best players at his position in the entire CFL. Boyd becomes the first Argos running back since Michael Jenkins in 2001 to be named a CFL All-Star. Boyd finished as the league’s second-leading rusher with 1,359 yards, scored eight (8) touchdowns (six rushing & two receiving) and was the club’s fifth-leading receiver (363 yards). Boyd led the CFL in yards from scrimmage with 1,722 and broke or matched several club records. This is the first time that Boyd has been named a CFL all-star.

They beat Hamilton in the first round, after losing to them 3 times this year. Go Cory!!

I was actually in Montreal this weekend and watched the game and Cory lead his underdog Argos to an upset victory over the Hamilton Tigercats with 125 yards. (They will now play Montreal for the east title to see who goes on to the Grey Cup) One of the in-studio commentators made a comment about him that I thought was dead on...during the highlights of Cory running one of the guys said...'Boyd is the type of running back that is more hammer than nail'...yep, that's Cory.

He deserves another shot in the NFL and I hope this gives him a chance. He left everything on the field as a gamecock for sure.

Great news! Congrats to Cory....kinda weird though. They released him on June 5th and resigned him about a week later, and then he ends up as the 2nd leading rusher in the league.

They do that a lot in the CFL if you're hurt. I think they did that 2x to Cory. They make room for some other guys by doing this until you're healthy enough to come back, then they cut the other guys...and yea...kinda wierd.

I think Boyd got only a few carries eary on this season until he had a breakout game around the 3rd or 4th game. He's been very effective since then.

Cory was up for being the most outstanding player of the CFL, He was actually voted the 2nd most outstanding player. Way to go Cory

Congrats Cory!! Cory did not carry the ball in the first game but ran for 147yds and a TD in the 2nd game, he was the leading rusher for the Argonauts the rest of the way.

Unfortunately, I think it's the talent gap and the bigger field. Cory was always a tough runner in the open field and the CFL fits him well. Cory probably faced tougher defenses in the SEC. But I do hope he gets another chance with the NFL...the paychecks are noticeably bigger.

I hope the CFL knows that because of Cory Boyd, they now have 82,000 additional fans.

They already know how great he is as a player and how much of a hardworker he is though.

I've watched him a few times this year and the announcers are always enamored with his ability to make plays. There have even been a few times where they called out the coaching staff for not giving him the ball enough.

Cleo Lemon has a tendency to kill drives. he does something extremely risky and costly about once every 9 times he gets the snap...kind of a McNabb/Favre combo...
