Default HD Works but Standard Picture...
Won't fill up whole screen. I have a vizio and dish network. HD looks fantastic but standard picture won't fill the screen. Help!

Dish doesn't have ESPNU in HD - I have a computer hooked up (HTPC) with HDMI - ESPN3 is HD. I guess it's bad to pay for Dish and watch it off the computer..lol

You can press the * on your remote to format the picture.

What is up with Dish anyway? They claim to be he leader in HD and can't even give me ESPNU HD. How about take away one of the other crappy HD channels and give me what I want.

DirecTV is amazing. Watching the Braves games and the difference between 648 and 648-1 is night and day. That HD channel makes all the difference in the world.

My cable provider(local mid-sized company) is the opposite in that it only offers ESPNU in HD..



but hey, I'm not complaining

espn hd looks great, but when i go to standard channels the full picture shows up but 1/3 smaller... like theres a border of black. I have the aspect ratio at 12:9 or whatever...

but like I said, HD channels work great and take up the whole 42'' but standard doesnt

SD is not supposed to take up the whole screen. It's a different format.

Most TV's have a setting where you can stretch and SD image to fit 16-9. But it looks like crap IMO and makes everything, including people, stretch out lengthwise.

yea we put it on stretch and it just didn't look good, made everyone look wide. that sucks. oh well. wasn't my tv anyways, i was at my sisters place haha
