Yeah, people make up stupid rankings all of the time - usually to get some publicity. I don't know that a snack food manufacturer's definition of "manliness" is a great bragging point, especially when based on an count of tractor-supply dealers, motorcycles, cops, construction workers, and steakhouses, but for those who like rankings, maybe it's a boost.

columbia used to be a nicer 10 years ago when i moved here, one thing to keep in mind though, sc in general is still being looked as a "racist" place, any of you read about that asian arizona player saying something about he wouldnt play for sc bc they dont like "asians" or some zhit like that?

i dont know if a "hipster" city is a bad thing but is better than being know to be a "racist" place.

columbia is small but i stil feel safer than in other cities.

5 points has a few homeless people now though, something i wasnt used to seing before.

For instance, Clemson will never have hipsters because they are a 1-trick pony farm town. The Clemson "locals" are country folk, while Columbia locals are lawyers, doctors, bankers, businessmen, musicians, artists, etc..

Clemson may have a couple 18 yr old "hipsters"... but if they knew their college was founded by a pro-lynching white supremacist, they'd probably change their tune.

clemson is a little town, there is nothing there but students that come from small towns too.

im an athlete i guess but i did grow up in the city, went to private school, took painting lessons, went to rock shows...

the word "culture" is too complex.

everybody has their own culture, even the farmers.
