I'm guessing we wont see FightOnState in this thread. I'm sorry, but when Paterno showed up at his door and talked to the media after he was dismissed, he only said one or two words about the victims and focused more on himself and the University. That alone told me something was horribly wrong.

Nobody will ever mention what he did as a coach again. Him doing what he did makes him no different than the predator himself. He knowingly let more kids get hurt. And, for what?

He let kids get molested so he could get the next Bobby Ingram, or Kerry Collins. Make no mistake, he was scared it would hurt recruiting, and his image. Maybe the most selfish thing I have ever heard anyone do. Paterno is a piece of CRAP, his coaching record means NOTHING compared to this.

His record should not be acknowledged in any way ever again. Him coaching young people is tantamount to a doctor being a serial killer.

In a way, I sort of feel sorry for Penn State students and alumni. Their degree is tarnished, no matter what they try and say or do. That's probably the reason they "rallied around Joe" to begin with, they didn't want to face reality. And truthfully, they didn't have anything to do with Sandusky - they were just bystanders. They didn't commit any crimes, they were just desperate to keep Penn State out of TMZ and not further damage their reputations, and the only way they knew how was to unite together and deny everything was happening.

What's even sadder is, instead of "rallying around Joe", what they should be doing is demanding a complete GUTTING of the entire university, top down, and demand full accountability. Send every single one of those criminals to prison even if it means the state taking over the operations of the university. But they can't - because the state itself is completely corrupt and totally infected with this problem. When you have special prosecutors declining to investigate, and then they disappear and are presumed dead - it sounds like the Mafia or something has taken over Pennsylvania. Some very high up people are making sure that the university is protected, and that's why I think it is probably even worse than what's getting out.

Just a sad, disgusting situation all around.

Paterno's legacy takes a huge hit here. He did do a ton of good but this takes a massive chunk out of it. Do I think he is an evil man? No, but my opinion of him drops quite a bit. I will say that the actions of a few do not reflect the university as a whole and that State College and Penn State university are still good places.

All the evidence anyone needed was there all along. The GA told Paterno what he saw yet Sandusky was allowed to stay at PSU dealing with kids, Paterno stayed at PSU and never said a word to the police, and not only did the GA stay at PSU, he was given a promotion. We knew all of that day 1 when this story broke.

after everyone involved gets their legal due, the ncaa has to punish penn state severely regardless if everyone involved is in jail or dead.

I don't know if a legal issue should really be NCAA jurisdiction

a vast conspiracy to try and protect the program at all costs children be damned has to result in a harsh penalty. while theres no direct competitive advantage they knew it would drastically hurt the program so in essence its similar though infinitely more despicable. while its hard to put something like this on the books, you cant stand by and just let the courts and public perception be the only direct punishment.

Fact is- NCAA president Emmert's letter to PSU last November pretty much forces his hand to take action against the program.

Some sort of penalties will be levied.

Well in order for them to be able to compete in further events it would seem like they would have to do something. Yes it is a legal issue but it is also a league issue.

The NCAA is already investigating to see if they broke any NCAA rules.
