As it regards "hallucinations" specifically, that might be a misnomer for the experience, as you don't exactly see entire objects that aren't there (as often portrayed in movies and the like). Sounds tend be more distorted than visual stuff, in my experience. Music comes alive in spectacular ways. You tend to lose all appetite for food, and alcohol seems strangely impotent during a trip. I have no idea if this is related, but LSD is used to treat alcoholism in Canada (and scattered clinical trials in the U.S.). I'm not sure it is a well-understood therapy, but the results have been positive. I guess if you learn to like the voices in your head, you no longer turn to booze in order to silence them.

As hard as it is to explain doing psychadelics to people who have never done it, this is a fantastica way of explaing it. I mostly say you just have to experience it to be able to describe it. But you are pretty spot on to what I have experienced as well.

I should have probably added something about the permanent giggles--assuming all is going well enough. Everything is ridiculous--like the entire world is nothing but a bunch of Dabo Swinneys. I guess a bad trip is when you start to believe everyone REALLY IS Dabo!

I'm the same way about this. Back when I was a junior/senior in high school I said I would never try shrooms, acid, etc. but then college came and I decided to broaden my horizons, so to speak. Glad I did it as my mind became more open to different experiences and I came to the realization that "drugs" carry a bad reputation, but done in the right capacity and with the correct people it can acutally be a good thing as you can learn so many things.

The kid clearly should not have been taking them if he had this kind of bad trip. As stated earlier, you need to be in a relaxed state of mind around people you can trust and keep you clear of danger. It's not for everyone, and I guess he found out the hard way. Plus as I said having experience with some mind altering drugs (weed even) is a MUST before trying anything beyond weed.

These insane rednecks I "knew" in high school were going to trip one night, and they were telling me I should come over because "we're gonna have like a karate tournament. It's gonna be awesome!" Mind you, none of these guys had ever studied karate. That's just what they thought you were supposed to do when you trip. You know, kick each other in the face. They were basically a bunch of Kenny Powers without the awesome monologues.

True, I read over the story, and it didn't go into much detail of the teenagers livelihood. He could of been suicidal, we don't know the media gets their wish they go in with a vague story to try and bash down an "illegal drug". One of the comments hit it on the nail about Alcohol. It causes more problems then any other drug, yet its legal in the US.

I've never done anything other than smoking weed a few times, so I definitely won't judge something I haven't done. From my experice seeing people do shrooms, you guys are spot on. I've seen someone with issues trip and freak the HELL out. I'm talking to the point of having to restrain the guy for a couple hours just to keep him from harming himself. On the other hand, I've been around friends with sound minds trip and they were a blast to be around. I believe I'm comfortable enough with myself to trip, but then again I'd be worried when it came down to it, so I wouldn't trust myself doing it.

This story reminds me of the guy that was in my grad class at USC that lived in Capstone with me freshman year. I'll never forget that. It was the night of the '07 USC-Kentucky game and he was alone and did shrooms. He fell from his 5th story window onto the roof of Gibbes below. Now, reports say "fell", but if you've lived in Capstone, or any dorm, you know those windows only crack open about 3 inches at the most. He RAN THROUGH his window and fell. Unfortunately, he was on life support and passed after a week.

I knew the kid who died from the fall at Capstone. Went to middle school with him and knew him throughout high school. He and several friends were tripping that night and they went back to his dorm room and they thought he was fine and said he was lying on his bed so they left but he freaked out for some reason and jumped through the window.

when i was at USC, i lived with two other guys who werent in school in a duplex. one night me and my roommate came home after getting off work, and found the third roommate sprawled out on the couch, looking horrible. we asked him what he had done by himself all night and he said "i ate an entire 8th of shrooms" to which we were dumbfounded- not only that he ate that amount, but he did so by himself...he then followed up this revelation by pointing to the carpet near the couch and saying "i threw up right there"

i about died laughing.

we still give him grief over that.

If you want to "open your mind" do dmt... you are asleep so you cant hurt yourself. ITs safer than shrooms and personally... it opens your eyes to a whole new world. I have never been the same since i did it but in a good way

my family owns a winery that i worked for for 15 years... the reason alcohol is legal is simple... the mark up. Wine and beers markup is over 1000% and more. its unbelievable the amount of money you can make off of it. its just a chemical reaction that you wait for to happen. weed, tobacco, and other drugs/substances require care and upkeep. alcohol does not.

Hopefully one day I can try DMT. I've heard that you almost go "to the other side" like you can see supreme beings and shit... very intriguing to me. Side note -- I am not very religious but that still intrigues me. From what I've read/been told from someone I know who has done it you come away feeling like you have a much bigger purpose in life basically.. once again, kinda hard to explain.
