Yeah, it took the NCAA like 45 minutes to rule that Cam was eligible before the 2010 SEC CG and about an hour to mistakenly rule that the OSU Blackeyes' players could play in the 2011 Sugar Bowl against Arky. [On the other hand, it took them weeks to figure out Damiere Byrd's situation, although that was probably more complicated]

Talk about severe overeaction...of COURSE Penn State doesn't deserve the DP...the admin is gone, the coaches are gone.

Enough said, those responsible are gone so it's time to heal and move on.

X2 and i still dont understand how the NCAA has ANYTHING to do with the laws those folks broke so how could they give the DP?... they cant and wont so this is pointlest...

you give psu football team the death penalty (which i dont think they can do anyway) you punish not just the football team but almost all of the non-revenue sports to the point that they may to get rid of them... no need to punish people who had nothing to do with the situation and arent even in the same program

This whole situation is a very important learning experience in life that you must take responsibility for your actions and that if you break the law you will be punished. There is a bigger picture here than just playing a college sport this is a team that made hundreds of millions of dollars by allowing a head coach cover up and feed a child molesting monster. This goes beyond football it goes to basic humanity that people need to protect the most defenseless the children who were brutually raped. There are no heroes in this, everyone from the top down knew the President, the AD, and the Head Coach and all of them went out of their way to protect Sandusky instead of handing his monster over the police they cared more about Penn State Football. The players even made jokes about Sandusky and the shower. Penn State needs to do the right thing and indefinadely suspend PSU football, remove any reference to Joe Paterno, vacate every win from when the coverup started, vacate every honor and title they won in that time period, chuck that Paterno statue out kick him out of the hall of fame, create a child abuse foundation from all of those earnings they had in this time frame, and purge and arrest anyone who knew that this raping was going on.

dont get me wrong i whole heartly agree with you that the people responsible should be severly punished... Penn state is going to pay huge amounts of money in civil suits and legal fees etc... those who covered everything up should be humilated and punished just as tough.... you can even go vacating wins etc etc... the thing is that you cannot just get rid of references to paterno however... to me that is sweeping everything under the rug... for 40 years that man was the head football coach and became more powerful than anyone on campus ... he made huge mistakes in an attempt protected his football program and if he was still alive should have been punished.... i understand that people want huge punishments but to go as far as punishing the students and student athletes that had no clue that this happened or covered anything up is to me not the way to go ... Penn state will pay as they should ..but this is not the right way to go about it

This idea that no punishment should be levied that will affect current students and student-athletes is absurd...and impossible.

Its inevitable- unless you're a proponent of no further punishment whatsoever.

^The actions of a few have consequenses for everyone. The students are going to get a tution hike, workers at PSU might get laid off, hours cut, or pay cuts, and also the tax payers of Pennsylvania are going pay as well.

well i mean i think that whatever punishment is given it doesnt need to be one made of rash judgement or an emotional one ... it needs to be thoughtfull and well planned.... they way some people talk you would think that the entire school should be shut down (which i know some here would say why not) but a school is much bigger than its athletic dept and i dont think overly punishing current students or athletes (more than what they are going to already get) is going to solve any problems

If the school pays upwards of $100 mil or more...many will be "punished"

If the school loses federal funding due to violation of Title IX (sexual harassment in Title IX is not specific to the victims being employees) then many people will be "punished". Hell, if PSU loses federal funding, then if the university continues it will be a shell of its former self.

If the school loses accredidation, then many people will be "punished"

See, in every possible scenario, many innocents will be punished, and it won't be due to "rash" or "emotional" punishments.

I believe they should get a pretty bad punishment but not the death penalty. Also just cause the current coaches didn't do it(that we know of) doesnt mean they don't get punished. If that was true we could cheat and just fire the coach and be good.
