This just came to me, but if we decide not to go for Greinke/Dempster, what if we move Medlen to the rotation and trade for Houston Street?

Greinke isn't happening. The feeling is that the Brewers are going to extend him. Dempster is a guy I would love to have but looks like Chicago is going to want a lot, understandably so. I dont see us trading for Street. If we are going to give up big propects, it needs to be a high return starter, IMO. I was thinking James Shields

I definitely don't want Dempster. He's maximized his value right now, so we'd have to overpay and never get the same guy who has pitched recently.

So good to see Sheets look great today. We need him to be that 4/5 starter for us going forward this season.

Really good to see Sheets pitch the way he did today. I was skeptical to see how that would turn out. I know it's just one start, but this was definitely a good sign for the rotation and hopefully a sign of things to come, as well.

Always good to beat the Mets, even better to sweep them!

Sheets seemed so relaxed today in interviews. Very chill guy that seems happy to be here. He is battle tested. I remember him starting that All Star Game in 08 the night after Josh Hamilton tore Yankee Stadium down. Anyone remember Sheets and CC teaming up in 08 coming down the stretch. He doesn't have to be anywhere near that good to help us. But man, if Sheets can turn into that ace that he use to be, look out.

We did this weekend exactly what we wanted. We got into 2nd last Sunday and now we have separated. Now let's go run the Nats down. Next 7 games are going to be huge.

BTW, good news for the Braves on Tuesday. I'll be there. Braves haven't lost a game while I've been in attendance. Ironically, the last 2 I've been at, Melky Cabrera got walkoff hits. He will be on the other side Tuesday

Sheets doesn't have to be the guy he was in 2008, he just has to be reliable and serviceable down the stretch. He will get a few more starts before the deadline, and with outings similar to the one he had today, I could bet the Braves will remove their names from the "buyers" list in regards to starting pitching. That said, however, I think Jurrjens will be the wild card player as to how the Braves approach the deadline. He's been pretty solid as well during his last few starts.
