The soccer schedule runs long, so they have to start it before the opening ceremonies in order to finish in time for the closing ceremonies.

The opening ceremonies are Friday.

Good job US women. It was actually a good, come from behind win after being down 2-0 early.

If anyone cares, the US Women's gymnastics team is down an alternate. Anna Li fell from bars and tore a ligament in her neck. =( She was just an alternate but it's still never good to lose anyone at this point.

I really hope Missy Franklin is going to be the breakout star of this olympic cycle. This swim team is going to destroy some folks.

McKayla Maroney on the gymnastics team is also injured. She broke her toe last week and re-aggravated it the other day. She will be limited to vault only. She was probably only going to compete on vault anyway, she's the reigning World Champ. The first World Champ the US has had on vault in quite some time. She's good on other apparatuses but CLEANS UP on vault.

I watched podium training today and you certainly couldn't tell she was injured. Whipping out MASSIVE vaults like no one's business. Quite a feat for this 16 year old girl to put the pain aside and compete anyway. Definitely needed since we're already down 1 alternate.

These gymnasts sure do put their body through hell. No wonder they are all forced into retirement so early!

Podium Training? As in....Watching them practice getting medals lol. I had no idea they even did that.

Ne ways, I love the olympics, but I absolutely despise the IOC. Right below FIFA in curuptness.

haha they call it podium training but it's where they basically take to the actual performance floor and are timed on each apparatus. To get the team members acclimated to the feel of the arena and stuff.

I'm with you there but I would also add gymnastics. I enjoy watching the men too but I get so into the women's competition

Has anyone heard the rumors of what's going to happen at the Opening Ceremonies? Apparently the Spice Girls are performing (!!!!) and in some kind of celebration of British culture Voldemort is going to fight with Mary Poppins (???). Still won't top Beijing's opening ceremonies. Asian people are cray.
