I went to practice tonight, and the one player that really stood out to me was #89. He's got some great speed for a guy his size, and made some great plays in drills. He was running with linebackers and spurs, but he had great separation and can go up and get it at 6'6. I hope they line him up at wideout some to fill the void Alshon left. He's going to make some big plays this season.

SOS was bragging on him. Look forward to seeing him in action.

I am excited about him. I love the idea of lining up in a 2 TE set with Adams and Anderson then seeing how a defense reacts in terms of formation. I think Spurrier could probably feed Shaw a 2 or 3 play option based on how the defense reacts. Nickel formation to count equals Latti pounding the rock while a traditional set means TE mismatch.

Jerrell is a big, fast young man. One thing I would like to see is Jerrell, Clowney, and Jerideau lined up as forward blockers on a punt. Jerrell and Clowney are both big and fast, and Jerideau is a quick, big load who can toss a guy around. They could be dangerous on a fake to either outside guy.

I was out there, too - our TE corps looks extremely athletic.

I don't forget them but they are the two players who can destroy any matchup. If it is LB they are too fast if it is a CB they are too small. Long story short is that we have some amazing TBs.

I'm starting to realize how stacked as a team we really are. This makes me so excited. Spurrier is [b]finally[b] getting all the talent he needs to make all of his offensive game plans that he is so famous for come together. Also, we are more stacked with talent and depth in the trenches.... the key factor in winning SEC championships, which directly translates to National Championships.

What are we going to do with Rainey? He seems undersized for TE.

He's listed bigger that Buster Anderson, and he made some great plays late last year.
Buster is listed 6'5 218 Jerrel is listed 6'6 224

On Rainey, I think he has enough speed for a jumbo WR, but might get a look at spur as a transition to OLB where he could be a future star if he continues to add size and develops the skills. From what I've heard about his scrappiness and athleticism, he might be one to move around to get early PT. Of course, that will be between him and the coaches, and I'm sure he will get looks at TE. |

This team is so stacked with talent it blows my mind.
Quite a contrast to just a few years ago. I also love the fact that Coach has a tendency to give real opportunities to unsung guys who tear it up in camp and work their butts off. He obviously has a natural respect for those that don't have built in advantages or hype. He saw Marty and instantly knew that he was worth giving a serious shot to play some ball. To me, that says a lot. Coach was right -- Marty was a gamer that would contribute in any fashion required, giving his all. You can build a champion around players like that, and HBC knows that. It's all part of the legacy that is building at USC.

I've had a feeling since he got in a few months ago that Adams was going to be a guy who could have a big year. He really has the potential to catch a lot of passes and be one of many go to guys for Shaw this year.
Really excited about this guy. |

How much weight do you guys reckon Jerell has put on since high school? He is an absolute hoss now.

I don't think he's gained much. He's naturally strong. He never hit a top-notch S&C program until he got in Columbia in April, but it looks like they're listing him as an inch taller than in HS. Speed-wise, he really amazed his prep school coach who also used him at safety a few times, I think.

Hell of an athlete. I suppose he'll be a touchdown machine. I was kind of hoping to see him on defense.

Would love to see us throw some jumpballs to a 6'6" 230 pound athlete in the endzone.
