What's funny is that people here on CT say that it appears Clowney is still "taking plays off" but employees of the pay sites claim it appears as though Clowney is "quicker off the snap than last year, if that's even possible"

honestly, I think a lot of it has to do with not being practices with pads for DL I imagine it's pretty boring and almost like having a Ferrari but only being able to got 35mph

Im not sure what his first step has to do with his effort in position drills. Like i said, he didnt seem too excited about practice.

I'm almost positive if he was slacking our position coach would have been all over him. Therefore I have to assume the coaches told him to take it down a notch. What's the point of him getting injured before the season or injuring an opposing player???

That could be the case. If anyone could slack its Clowney. I was HOPING this thread could be more about Byrds camp so far - he looks great.

Ok - theyre not saying "clowney is busting his butt and leading the team with his work ethic."

All im saying is his effort throughout lacked. Maybe the coaches asked him to take it easy, maybe its the lack of pads. But when quarles, taylor and byron gave 90% hitting pads, i expected more than 50% from clowney.

During the season last year, Lawling said he made a couple mistakes in his assignments. However, he never said Clowney was not giving a good effort. More like he made freshman mistakes, and didn't follow his assignment. Probably, it was over-aggression.

Well coach took me on a helicopter ride after practice and told me his concerns with clowneys effort. Then we ate lucky charms and played dominoes and he offered me a scholarship.

really? this was the first 2 days of practice. prior to now, the players have been in the s&c program wiith only coach connelly and his staff. spurrier alluded to some players not working as hard over the summer but mentioned no one specific. i am not talking about the spring.
