British Man Creating 4th place "Medals"

What is the 4th place medal made of? Copper I assume. If I were an Olympic athlete and finished 4th and got a copper or whatever medal, I'd trash it in front of the crowd. Pity medal. Screw that. Also, devalues or whatever the correct word is the "real" medals. I'm not sure I'd accept a bronze medal. The taxes I'd have to pay on it wouldn't be worth a bronze to me.

That's cool because if you read the article it doesn't say 4th place medals are being awarded in a ceremony (like the other medals are)

Some British guy is just mailing them to the athletes.
So unless there's a crowd at your house or post office then I doubt a lot of people will be seeing you trash it.

other than basketball.....yea right! 3rd place in almost any event is very very respectable

Tom Daley is very young and has been through hell the last few months by watching his father die slowly from cancer. Tom is a fantastic diver and he'll win plenty of medals in his career.

However, a fourth place medal is absurd, IMO.

I think it is more insulting to athletes, they work hard and may have fallen short but to give them a moral victory medal is an insulting.
