It makes sense when you think about it. Pac 12 schools are very good at those sports at the collegiate level. Swimming, water polo, soccer etc. SEC dominates in non-Olympic sports like football and baseball. That being said, we still have our fair share of Olympians in there.

The only "elite" swimming programs in the SEC are UGA, Florida and Auburn. They produced several Olympians each. The rest are pretty mediocre. Ryan Lochte went to Florida, along with a few others. Allison Schmitt went to UGA with a few others too I think.

The rest on the USA swim team come from out west for the most part.

Claressa Shields of the US becomes the first American women to win boxing gold. She won the middle weight class by defeating Russia 19-12. She's only 17 years old! She goes back home to begin her senior year of high school soon, haha. USA had a girl win bronze in the fly weight class too.
