seriously, whats so special about Gurley? he, like Lattimore doesnt have a 6th gear after burner. i see a good vision smart runner playing against garbage high school defenses. Lattimore's high school film looks a lot better. please somebody show me what im missing.

I don't recall Gurley being a 5 star last year, most sites had him rated as a top 5 APB but a mid-to-high 4 star, which is about right, in my opinion. Gurley has added some mass and came into fall camp at 220 lbs and looks to be pushing for #2 on the depth chart. I think he's a better RB than Marshall (though not as fast) because he can be more of a between the tackles runner. He looked very good in our scrimmage a couple of days ago. If he finishes with 500 yards this season, then I'll be very happy.

In Lattimore's highlight reel the run at the 5:55 mark is nearly identical to the run vs UGA in 2011 that gets played in all the network hype footage. Although my favorite is the run at the 8:30 mark, specifically due to Marcus' footwork in traffic!! Looks like a judoka or boxer with those beautiful and talented tootsies!

I'm glad I was lucky enough to see Lattimore play all through highschool, definitely put on a show every friday. I remember Dorman players coming to the sideline getting chewed out by coaches for bad tackling saying "It's like trying to tackle a concrete wall! wtf" hahah imagine Lattimore coming right at you with that low pad level. Get trucked or get out of the way. Marcus was/is the perfect fit for our offense. The delayed draws, obviously the inside zone read, being able to pickup blitz', catch out of the backfield,etc. His sophomore year in HS he was more shifty/elusive. Then Junior and senior year he just became a bigger bruising inside runner who's still shifty.

Here's my problems with Gurley:

He runs high.
He doesn't blaze by you.
I didn't see very many runs that he created for himself.

All in all, he's not the back UGA's looking for. I may be proven wrong, but as it stands I feel Mike Davis was the better high school running back last year. But we'll see.

Gurley in running style reminds me of Tim Worley. Outside people and the fridge of UGA fans bring up the next Herschel more then any true UGA fan or alum does. None of them have to be close to Herschel with how balanced our offense is, give me a Thomas Brown or Musa Smith and I'd be happy at this point. Tough hard nosed guys that hang onto the ball, get the tough yards and are model citizens. But I'm sure knowing the AJC if Gurley or Marshall have a big game vs Mizzou they'll write a "next Herschel" article but whatever.
