I agree 1000%. Teams in the midwest play for freakin axes, cups, barrels, a buncha crap etc. We don't need any of that; it cheapens the rivalry IMO. Now I do think the Hardee's trophy is kinda stupid. I didn't even realize it existed until a couple of years ago (how long has it been around anyway?) It seems like kind of an afterthought which is fine by me.

Do I like the Hardee's trophy? Not at all. I think it's cheesy (See what I did there?) and forced. But, it's contractually bound and not going away anytime soon. At the end of the day, the symbols on that flag belong to both institutions; regardless of who wins a football game.

I'm sure Clemmy is making great progress on this initiative. We are becoming their bowl game. They play in the ACC, fellas. Our game during the last week of the season is their last (and often, only) shot to prove they belong on the national scene. They would love to do nothing more than come up with new gimmicks to make the game seem a little more glamorous.

As for the University of South Carolina, I feel like our focus should be elsewhere...

Clemson fans didn't come up with the idea, our guys did. Your whole argument seems to basically be that it isn't necessary. Well, I guess in a way it isn't necessary that we play them at all. Let's just get rid of the game all together so we can focus on SEC games. This is football. It's a game. Nothing is "necessary." This is just something to make things a little more interesting. We have the "Battle of Columbia" with Missouri now. I don't think that means we are any more focused on Missouri than UGA or Florida.

I know what you're feeling. Winning the last three years has taken the edge off of your hatred towards Clemson. I was feeling it last year about this time until I saw all of that orange in and around Williams-Brice. Either that or you're just downplaying the game for the sake of talking smack.

I don't care what you say, and I don't care that beating Clemson has no effect on our standing in the SEC. It is ABSOLUTELY one of our most important games of the year. Eventually we will lose to them again, and maybe when that happens some of you will remember just how important this game is. It's called a rivalry for a reason.

Think of the trophy as one more thing to brag about. Maybe the first couple years it woouldn't be a big deal, but eventually it would catch on. The crescentless Palmetto tree outside of the losing teams stadium would be a year long reminder, and once they won again watching the crescent be re-affixed to the tree would come with a great sense of pride and satisfaction.
