Four-star running back/linebacker Elijah Hood of Charlotte Catholic (N.C.), who is competing in the Junior Rank Prodigy Camp this week, listed a top five of Clemson, North Carolina, Notre Dame, South Carolina and Virginia Tech one month ago.

On Thursday, though, he changed his tune.

"It's basically restated for me," Hood told 247Sports.

What caused Hood to switch things up?

"I've been down here in Florida and I have seen some of the Florida schools," Hood said. "And I'm thinking about going up north and seeing some more schools. Basically, after coming down here and seeing what else there is, it let me know there is more out there and I should probably wait a little longer before trying to make too rash of a decision. Those schools still have a little bit [of an edge] but it's a little bit difficult to name five top schools."

According to Hood, Florida and Miami were the Sunshine State colleges he checked out.

"Both schools are great, beautiful places," Hood said. "I enjoyed myself there. They were really nice people."

Junior RB Elijah Hood (6-1 210) of Charlotte is one of the better prospects in the Carolinas for 2014. The problem is deciding which position he will play in college. He's also a standout linebacker. “I feel linebacker could be my better position for college but it doesn't matter,” Hood said. “The schools aren't sure which position they like me for.” USC and Clemson are two of his early offers and he's visited both, USC multiple times. “USC is up there on my list,” he said. “It's a good program, a good school. The staff seems pretty genuine. I can see them doing big things. It's the same thing for Clemson. It looks like an exciting football team.” Hood also has offers from North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, Duke, East Carolina, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Virginia. Ohio State is also showing interest. He said USC, Clemson, North Carolina and Ohio State are recruiting him the hardest right now. He plans to make his decision around the end of the school year or next summer. He has no preference on a conference and has no qualms about leaving the state. He does not have favorites. “I don't know who is really interested in me yet, though USC and Clemson are really interested. “ Last season Hood rushed for 1982 yards and 35 touchdowns.

2014 RB Elijah Hood of Charlotte had planned to attend the junior day at Clemson Saturday but was unable to make it. "I couldn't get the transportation straight so I didn't go," said Hood. "I'm going to try and reschedule it if I can." He named Clemson, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech and North Carolina as his top five in no order. Georgia Tech was his first junior day visit. "It went pretty well and I really enjoyed it," he said. "I like the campus...it sits in the middle of Atlanta. They have pretty nice facilities and I think I would transition pretty easily into their offense." His offers include his top five as well as USC, Florida State, Wake Forest, East Carolina, Virginia Tech, Virginia and NC State among others. As for USC he said, "I don't plan on visiting South Carolina." Hood has plans to visit other schools this spring including Notre Dame. He does not have a leader.

Frankly, Hood isn’t even the safest bet at running back for the Tarheel State. But his rare blend of size, power and acceleration to go with prolific production make him the more tantalizing option for the purpose of this listing. Notre Dame is in the driver’s seat unless distance becomes a factor, at which time UNC and Clemson become options. Also on a number of college boards as a linebacker.

"Hood is a freak on either side of the football," Farrell said of the No. 12 player. "He is an amazing running back who has speed, power and game-breaking ability and on defense he is a hard-hitting linebacker with quick twitch ability.

"I think he's more special as a running back and maybe a little undersized as a linebacker, but whatever he wants to play in college he will exceed at."

Scott is our #1 RB target and we may prefer Hood at LB with BAW as the #1 at this position.

RB Elijah Hood of Charlotte will hit the road this Thursday for three unofficial visits to the Midwest. Hood will stop in at Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State for a closer look. He goes into this trip with the Irish his leader over North Carolina and Clemson. "Great education, great football, great following and they are on TV every week," Hood said of the Irish. Hood could not make Clemson's recent junior day and said he won't make the one in early March either. He went to Georgia Tech's junior day and is going to North Carolina March 9th for the Duke basketball game. Georgia and Purdue are his most recent offers. Hood would like to make his decision before his season but does not have a definite date.

Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic athlete Elijah Hood is ranked as the No. 12 player in the national rankings. He recently released his list of six favorite schools. Notre Dame currently leads for the 6-foot, 212-pound player.

"I just like the program and I think it's on the rise," Hood told Rivals.com. "I love the education. It's one of the best educations you can get in the world. That's awesome.

"I like the fact that all their games are televised. That's a big deal because at least I'd know my family would be able to see me play. That's another thing I really like. There are a lot of things I really like about them."

Behind Notre Dame in order was North Carolina, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia Tech and Michigan.

According to Hood, the list is fluid but he plans on visiting Notre Dame in the near future and that could seal his fate.
