19 against tulsa and 27 against ole miss. Our offense was great against kentucky but thats not saying much. Our running game has gotten better since we havent used knile davis as much
Hamilton has been catching around 12 balls per game and wilson has been relying on him a lot...a little too much though because our offense has become predictable and wilson hasn't been as good as last year

basically from what coach ward said after practice thursday and like was mentioned earlier, if arkansas comes out in base personnel, itll be cb swearinger, hampton, s holloman, williams, spur jeffery. if they go 3 or 4 wide, swearinger slides down to nickelback and legree plays one of the outside corner spots. he also didnt rule out moving holloman back to spur in spots if necessary.
i tend to look at these moves as getting our most veteran guys out there to avoid some of the breakdowns or mistakes that we've had lately. the situation we were at last week with no auguste and tj gurley out for the season was pretty much a 3rd safety and corner getting their first major action in sec play. while having holloman at safety isnt what i wanted going into the season, it might be the best plan at this point. hopefully having all the veterans out there will work. |

It is amazing how much difference the coaching staff makes. I thought arkansas might drop off a little without the head guy but they had all the players and the coordinators and whatnot. I guess bobby calls the offense himself, I thought he had handed that off to his brother, but apparently not. I guess example 2 is nick saban at bama. They flopped around for a decade or two until they got the right guy. then boom, they're good again.

You're right.
I'll be honest, I did not expect you guys to be that bad. Wilson is still a beast and Hamilton is ridiculous... but your secondary might be the worse I've seen. Still, I feel no pity for you guys, you've run the train on us recently...

Turns out it was a good move for the defense. We have had trouble with power teams (because they have to use tightends and fullbacks and extra olineman to block Clowney).
If Arkansas could have run it then it would have been a shootout. Excellent move by the Coaches. Ohh and Swearinger will make a ton of money in the NFL playing cornerback... Posted from Cockytalk.com App for Android

I would prefer a scheme change to just moving guys around. The DBs are still playing to soft and Ark really used that to their advantage yesterday. They consistently ran curls and comebacks that left the DBs racing 5 yards towards the endzone and by the time they came back the WR not only made the catch but had time to make a football move and gain extra yards. Bend but don't break is fine but why put a team in the red zone before you decide to play tighter coverage.

Yes, but Arky's secondary did the same. The passing stats between us and Arky was about a 4 yard difference to our advantage.

They played better in the second half but the first half was what I feared. Arkansas got favorable matchups by moving Hamilton all over and using him on drags, crosses, then down the middle of the field. The staff must've made some adjustments and the defensive line did step up but I still think the changes are questionable. Holloman and Jeffery just aren't very good in coverage.
And what I want to know is if Jimmy Legree has an injury bc he has been awful since LSU.

I was thinking the same thing. Jimmy has been burned way to often this year. Of course our pass coverage in general has struggled once again this year. I don't know at this point if it's coaching , players, or both. I thought Ward's new approach would help the secondary but it hasn't worked yet again.
