Also a note about Josh Hamilton but I just don't see it happening. To many left handed bats and way more money than they will be willing to spend.

Good move to make an offer to Bourn. If he signs, you can live with a $13.3 M salary. If he doesn't, you get a good draft pick. I expect Bourn will decline, probably betting that he can get more than that elsewhere.


I wonder if the Braves have thought about moving Heyward to CF? I think his defense would translate well there and it should be easier to find corner outfielders in free agency or in the farm system.

They won't move Heyward to center. They've said they don't want him there for more than a few games at a time.

Heyward would be an awesome center fielder. They just don't want him there for whatever reason. I would love Hamilton. But the fact is that unless we dump some salary (Hanson) we can't afford him AND a leadoff man. Hamilton will make 20 million. We only have 25 million. Unless Shane Victorino will take 5 million. Or Pagan. I think we could get Pagan for 8 million a year.


My offseason deal: Trade Hanson and EOF and a prospect for Justin Upton. Sign Angel Pagan.

I always said I wanted Hamilton. He's my hero. I even joked that I would move to Atlanta and get season tickets if we ever got him. But we just can't afford him. I can be a Josh Hamilton fan and a Braves fan at the same time.

I'd love Hamilton as well as he's one of my favorite players in all of sports. Even have a Hamilton Rangers t-shirt. Just don't see it happening logistically.

It's just a sandwich pick after the first so while its good pick its really still a crap shoot at that point not a top pick. The part that makes it a difficult situation is the team that would sign him would forfeit their first round pick.

13 million bucks is a lot of money for someone who's main value is in their defense and they are on the cusp of turning 30. His OPS+ is pretty much right down the middle for his career.

Bethancourt still needs some seasoning in the minors, so I'm curious as to what they'll do to replace Ross. Re-sign Boscan and give him a shot?

I've cried for the last 24 hours. I'm just now able to stop the sobs to post. This has to mean that Evan Gattis will be on the big league roster next year. Bethancourt's offense is not ready. He needs time. I hate to see Ross go. I want that man to be the next Braves manager.

If he can put up numbers like last year, I wouldn't be opposed to him. However, he's at the point in his career where you expect his numbers to start declining. Plus, who would you trade to get him since he's not a FA?

Jeremy Affeldt got a 3 year deal worth 18 million. EOF is going to make a lot more than that.

BTW, Tori Hunter is about to sign with Detroit. Frank Wren needs to get going.
