Mike Brown fired

I could care less about the NBA but thought this was interesting after just 5 games they fired their coach. I've always thought of Mike Brown as a below average coach so I never got why he was hired at the Lakers. Perhaps because he was young energetic black guy who had some good years while Lebron ran the show? Don't know but apparently 5 games was all it took.

Did this just happen within the hour? I was just watching ESPN & they were saying "Sources say Mike Brown could be fired if something dosent change through the lakers home stand" something to the effect of if he couldnt get it done in the upcoming stretch they'd let him go, but I guess they already made the decision.

That was probably Chris Broussard who said that....Broussard's sources like to feed him totally erroneous information at times just to make him look like a jackass....either that or he does not really have sources and fakes it...either way, if he talks, whatever he says has to be taken with a grain of salt and with consideration of his past instances of "according to my sources"

jim buss initially wanted to go as far away from phil jackson as possible when phil retired. to that end he hired a defensive guru with a great record who didnt run the triangle to put his stamp down as the guy running the show.

mike brown's inability to mold offensive talent or scheme a system around the talent he has was his downfall. the basketball people in the organization probably convinced buss that the window with nash and kobe is going to be very short so its not the time to experiement. lets get phil in and try to win.

ehh dantoni, fire the all defense coach to go with the all offense coach, we'll see if it works. i think it just comes down to getting out of the way of the players and finding the rotations that work. a lot of lakers fans would complain about the dumb rotations that brown would use.

What's the deal with Brian Shaw? His name is always put out there when a coaching position is open but he hasn't been called up yet. I would have asked him before D'Antoni.

With Mike D'Antoni, I fully expect the Lakers to play absolutely no defense now and I don't think we can run up and down the court with the likes of the Heat, Thunder, Pacers, Clippers, or many of the other NBA teams out there. I hope I am wrong.

I like how they are trying to spin it that they thought D'antoni was a better fit for Nash and Dwight so they picked him over Phil.
