No true freshman rockstars

So, maybe this is me being spoiled, but it feels like this year we haven't had any true freshman rock stars. I don't know if this is because of increased talent of upperclassmen, or an underwhelming 2012 draft class.

Generally, we have at least one true freshman make an immediate impact, for instant.

2011 - JC
2010 - Lattimore
2009 - Gilmore & Jeffery

We've definitely gotten good play from many freshman, but no rockstars. After 10 games into the season, how do you think 2012's class will turn out compared to other years?

Give it the rest of the season and maybe Mike Davis will end up being that guy. He's certainly show flashes of it.

We have loaded up in talent the past few years. Sometimes u dont need a freshman to be a rockstar when u have proven depth and experience.

Mike Davis will be the rockstar this year if he can get some more carries these last two games.

South Carolina hasn't needed its freshman to contribute much this year.

It is a combination of both.

SC did sign the Mr. Football so we got the best of the best. But the state didn't have a Marcus Lattimore or JC last year.

Look at Clemson. What true freshman are stars for them this year and they had a great recruiting class as well?

How will it turn out? I don't know, but I do believe that Shaq Roland is going to be just fine and will be a "rockstar" by the time he finishes. I have heard nothing from coaches or anyone else that would tell me otherwise. Also, Jerrell Adams will be a rockstar and a NFL tight end. Darius English will be an All-Conference Defensive End and will continue Brad Lawing's success at DE.

But it is also because of need as you said. Brad Lawing said last week that Darius would easily be starting for us in any season other than this one.

We didn't have to play our rockstars. Shaq Roland, Jerrel Adams, and Mike Davis all played back up roles

We could have used more "rockstar" play by Shaq this year with Jr's favorite DL Moore playing so poorly. A lot of times, when Shaq got to play and was wide open, Connor didn't see him. Hopefully, he'll be a starter in the 3wide set next year.

I would of thought diggs would of played with holloman being a sr since diggs was suppose to be the next spur player or will golightly take over that postion to give diggs time to bulk up?
