With the loss of DE Robert Nkemdiche from the 2013 commitment class, Clemson could increase its interest in DE Jamar Winston (6-8 240) of Dutch Fork. Winston, who was chosen for the North-South Game, has been scouted twice by the Tigers. Defensive coordinator Brent Venables recently visited his school, and he last talked to the Tigers three weeks ago. "They are saying they are very interested, but I have to show them how much I want it," Winston said. "They said they like my height, speed, length, wingspan, and how low I can get." Winston has been committed to Charlotte but would jump on a bigger offer. Missouri is showing a lot of interest and he thinks an offer is coming from the Tigers. He talked to his Mizzou recruiter Wednesday. This season Winston has 63 tackles, 6 passes broken up, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 21 tackles for loss.

Dutch Fork WR Jordan Berry (5-11 170) has posted eye popping numbers this season with 108 catches for 1600 yards and 10 touchdowns. But so far, those stats have not equated into offers. Berry was at USC for the Arkansas game and has been to several USC home games this season. Saturday he talked with Gamecock receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr. "He said he was glad to see me and will try to make one of my games," Berry said. He's also been to Clemson, Elon and Georgia Tech for games. Berry feels USC and Elon are the closest to offering.

WR Akia Booker (6-0 180) of Byrnes has been a key contributor to the Rebels' success since the 9th grade. This season he's among the state's top receivers with 58 catches for 1179 yards and 14 touchdowns. Booker's recruiting has been tepid but that's likely to change now that he's made a qualifying test score according to assistant coach Bobby Bentley. "Tennessee and North Carolina are showing interest and are waiting to see how he turns out grade wise," Bentley said. Clemson, USC, Georgia, Wake Forest and Notre Dame also have shown some interest in Booker.

As I'm sure we all agree, it would be nice if we can try and protect/nurture that relationship if at all possible. Damn SEC LOI restrictions are going to hurt us more than some other schools due to in-state educational issues. We need to get one high school that specializes in getting these kids qualified/academically on track and we can let the kids gravitate to it. Maybe Knotts can get it going at Spring Valley. Maybe like an academic/athletic magnet in each region to get the borderline guys on track.

will he delay enrolling for a year to recover so that he does not use up any eligibility to recover or does he come in and immediately apply for a medical hardship waiver?

Bad news.....hopefully he heals to full recovery and comes back stronger than ever....I always thought he kinda looked like an initial red-shirt year could do him good in our S&C program, physically speaking. He doesn't look the most physically imposing to me, but I also know that sometimes that might not matter as much for some....
