![]() Written by Isabelle Khurshudyan,
There’s no consensus on when South Carolina cornerback Victor Hampton matured. Spur DeVonte Holloman thinks it was when he stopped being so hard on himself. Linebacker Shaq Wilson said Hampton changed when he started attending a Bible study with some teammates. Free safety D.J. Swearinger saw a difference in the way Hampton started to practice. http://dailygamecock.net/index.php?o...y-on-off-field

![]() We got really good kids here. Since the beginning of this year I felt like there was no need in worrying of any kids getting in trouble. We're recruiting character/talent now.

![]() Nice little read.
Interesting that Tony Morrell doesn't think he will be back next year though.

![]() ![]() ![]() Our coaches are shaping these young men in a way they will appreciate for life. If his personal development has taken larger bounds than his play has, I will take that any day. Very appreciative of Brown taking such a young and inexperienced (at positions) group and making them play DBU ball. |

![]() Not only identifying and recruiting the best, but putting the pieces in place to cultivate it now. We don't need Lame Kiffin's slime talk, Dumbo's rosy recruiting speeches, or Gene Chizik's bagman. We got character coaches who want character players and we are getting them. There are obviously tons of factors that go in to a young man choosing a school to play for. Nevertheless, I honestly believe there are certain types of individuals that want to play for a guy like Kiffin and very different types that want to play for a guy like Ward, aside from the game, scheme, PT, location, etc. Just my opinion.

Also, I'm very impressed with the folks over at TDG these days. I know when I was there, we worked our tails off in the sports department. It's nice to see that the kids there now are taking their jobs seriously, and stockpiling these quality clips to use at the next level. Our athletes aren't the only ones who want to make a career out of what they're doing in college. |

![]() I think he's a great player for us, but I don't see him as NFL-ready yet. Let's hope Brown can help guide him there as well.

![]() I've heard he is gone... Wants to get help out his family situation by making some money. I think it's a bad idea and he should stay for his senior year. No way he goes in the first 3 rounds of the draft.

![]() A team is only as good as the character that exists within.

![]() I understand trying to take care of your family but if he stays and works and gets better like I know he will, he will make even more money in the draft next year because he will go higher. I just don't see him in the top 4 rounds.

![]() It also helps to have leaders on the team who are mature beyond their years and realize they are now becoming who they will ultimately be. It's hard for a 20-year-old to tell a peer or teammate he is messing up and push him to be accountable to his team, his family, and his future. Too many youth think they can live in a pattern of destructive and undisciplined behavior and then Etch-a Sketch into a successful adult life. It doesn't work that way. It takes time and work to build character. Having caring coaches and teammates like Lattimore, Johnson, Miles, Holloman, Thompson, and others who can lead or point toward a bright future rather than ruined opportunities. Hampton's new walk encourages many of us.
