That is small on an SEC field. They are outweighed by everyone on the field except for maybe a receiver or cornerback... The coaches use the word fracture to describe both stress fractures and/or soft tissue injury so I don't know which he has. Both heal with the same treatment, rest. Stress fractures happen when a person repeated strikes and area over and over, thus the term, stress. Soft tissue or connective tissue is usually an event such as turning the ankle. I never heard a description from the coaches and that is something I listen to each week. I am good with injuries and I am learning football.

Connor's play style makes him injury prone. However, that style is what he is comfortable with, therefore it should not be changed.

I wouldnt go to say that he is injury prone, just the risks that he takes sometimes with his style of play get him into trouble sometimes but he is solid. He goes out there week by week and takes big hits then gets right back up. He has only missed 2 games since he took over from Garcia, and the fact that he is 14-2 as a starter goes to show that he fights for us and those painful extra yards in the SEC.

This. Connor has taken some HUGE hits this year, one in particular was the LSU game where he jumped to throw the ball away and the LSU defender drove him into the turf. That hit made me cringe.

His first big hit was against Vandy and this makes me think about how poor our O-line

He just got a cheap shot in the Vandy game that hurt him and it has nagged all year long. If Connor doesn't get dinged in the first game, we wouldn't be having this discussion. The shots that Connor has taken this year have been something else. I just watched the LSU game again last night and there was one play where the LSU player hit connor after he threw the ball, picked him up and drove him into the ground on his hurt back. If that's not penalty, I can't understand why what DJ did Saturday was a penalty. Connor was more unprotected than the receiver.

It looks to me like Connor has smaller sized shoulder pads. I keep wondering if they shouldn't get him more substantial shoulder pads to give him additional protection so that he doesn't always need to "duck and run" and do the hook slide.

I miss the days when he made an attempt to take off and take it to the house.

He is bigger than Johnny Football (just barely), so he should be able to take the pounding if he can ever fully heal up.

As crazy as it sounds, I know he has tons of muscle and is all "Beast Mode" and such, but I'm thinking he could use a few extra pounds from good ol' Georgia fatback cooking. Fat is more protective than muscle, and I wonder at times if he isn't a bit too lean.

Put on about 7 pounds of deep-fried fat (his speed won't diminish with no more extra weight than that) and get bigger shoulder pads...

...And avoid those runs up the middle. Connor does best when he angles for the sideline and makes a break to the house.

Its not just the person in perspective you have to look at. Diff positions use diff pads. QB shoulder pads are not made to take big hits it's made to flex with the throwing motion. Put DB shoulder pads on him and he probably wouldn't have a bummed shoulder right now but he would not be as accurate either.

Is Lattimore injury prone? I don't think so. It's just the type of hits he takes at that position. Same with Shaw. Akeem is injury prone.

I don't mean this disrespectfully but I will be excited to see us begin the Connor Mitch era. Shaw is a good QB and a great Gamecock but I wish he could run the type of offense that SOS is so good at coaching.

Why don't we let him break a good sweat in a few SEC-level practices before we start looking forwards to "the Connor Mitch era"?

As great a HS QB as he is, there's no guarantee that he'll even sniff the two deep here, much less have his own "era".

Shaw can run the offense SOS wants but he has to trust his receivers and get the ball out of his hands much faster. He has the tools.
