Byrnes should be out of the playoffs.
Dressing and playing ineligible players are the same thing...you forfeit the game regardless.
Happened to Daniel earlier this year with a kid whos parents got divorced and his mom moved to another district.

If LR is out of the playoffs, as are Goose Creek, so should Byrnes.
But then again, SCHSL is in the backpocket of that school.

Further proof the SCHSL is a joke and should be destroyed and remake a new high school league.

I never have understood the animosity towards Byrnes. The Rebels were not given preferential treatment in this case. Each team forfeited a game in which an ineligible player dressed out. LR and Goose Creek had to forfeit a playoff game, therefore, they would then be eliminated from the playoffs. Byrnes forfeited a regular season game which would not eliminate them from the playoffs since it was just a regular season game. Even if the brackets were redone, Byrnes would have still had a playoff game at home against a team that they are better than. Granted, we would be playing at Gaffney this week instead of at home against Spartanburg, but if all teams win that should, Byrnes will get to eliminate the Indians next week instead of this week ;)

Our sister station in Charleston is sitting outside the closed door SCHSL meeting to decide on Goose Creek's appeal to their disqualification from the playoffs. They say you can hear the emotion from the team's coach through the door.

If you click on the link you can see the post and what people are saying below. One woman said it was a special needs child and another said the kid also played basketball as well as 7 football games.

Can someone that believes brynes got preferential treatment explain why they scshl would t want to give preferred treatment to goose creek? They are what 11 in nation, something like 25 game winning streak, defending state champs. Their kid they are saying was a fifth year senior didnt play football at his other school. He only played four years of football and nobody said anything about it for four years.

The kid played basketball only. Was held back transfered due to a bad home situation and played four years of football and didnt play basketball.

Wasn't Boiling Springs banned from the playoffs in 2009 or 2010 for letting 8th graders practice with the varsity in spring practice? Can't remember the exact reason or year but it seems that there was even talk of cancelling their whole season that year.

The fact GC asked that the hearing be held behind closed doors seems fishy to me. If they had nothing to hide then why keep the media and public out. Not to mention it may have been illegal to close the meeting.

They did it to protect the player. He's not had the easiest life, to put it mildly.
