**USC Women vs. Savannah State GAME Thread**

Scouting the Lady Tigers
Savannah State returns three starters, who were the team's top three scorers, from last season's 10-20 team. Led by junior guard Ezinee Kalu, the Lady Tigers to an 89-55 win over Columbia College in the season opener, scoring 25 points on 9-of-10 shooting. That performance picks up right where she left off last season when she averaged 17.6 points per game, taking more than 200 more shots than the next closest teammate while also leading the team with 2.8 assists per game. Junior guard Jasmine Kirkland was second on the squad at 8.7 points per game, and Blessing Uba, another junior guard, rounds out the returners with 5.2 points per game last season. The Lady Tigers will have to replace the rebounding of Jasmine Kirkland, who added 7.0 boards per contest last season. Head coach Cedric Baker is in his 10th season at Savannah State with an 86-172 record at the school. Overall, he is 392-370 over 21 seasons.

It is clear that this Savannah State team is outclassed. I will say that Asia Dozier looks really really good though. I also like what this JC girl from French Guiana Montout brings to the game as a big girl as well. If these freshmen keep on playing well this team can do some damage in the SEC and post season.

no not really, i apologize to the ladies i keep up with the games but struggle with the players ( i won't lie to you). I know we had a pretty good recruiting class and a hell of a coach. just hard to see a top 16 team not being in the top 25

We have a lot of talent and depth now on this team......more than the last year's team.....but losing both Sutton and Grant will be a challenge to this young team as far as how far they can go this season. Sutton and Grant were the team's top leaders and most experienced players, in addition to being the top 2 scorers for the team. Also losing Stephens and Newton were big as well.

But I can see how much more talented this team is and will be....I know it's Savannah State, but we have so many options on the floor now who can attack the basket, whereas last season we seemed to funnel everything more through Sutton and Grant...

Man Davis just went down with what looked to be a ACL. I sure hope she is ok as she is one of the better freshman players we have.

She would actually be used the least of any of the freshman, but we still need her. Without her, we only have 9 players with Roy already out.
