Default Re: Did these players live up to their rating?

I'll bite at this.

This is using Rivals ratings for every 4 and 5 star since 2002.

I tell you the first thing I notice is there is about a 50/50, maybe 60/40 split on guys that did and didn't pan out.

Not trying to make a point or anything, just offering a discussion topic on a slow Friday afternoon.

2002:

Ricardo Hurley - 5 star NO

Aryhel Freeman -4 star - meh

Carlos Thomas - 4 star - YES, but at CB, not WR

2006:

Garrett Anderson - 4 star -YES
Kenrick Ellis - 4 star- We will never know
Hutch Eckerson - 4 star- YES, would have liked to see him develop sooner.
Chris Smelley - 4 star- NO
Kevin Young - 4 star- HELL NO

2007:

Chris Culliver - 5 star- YES, we moved him too much, but we had to.
Cliff Matthews - 4 star - YES, more than expected
Mark Barnes - 4 star- NO
Stephen Garcia - 4 star - Meh, he was good when he wanted to be.
Dion Lecorn - 4 star - YES, I blame injuries, not him.

CC Whitlock - 4 star - YES, we were just deep at CB when he was here.
Antonio Allen -4 star - YES, played like a 5 Star his Sr year.

Jody Fuller - 4 star...IDK, hasn't played.
Joe Harris -4 star...IDK, hasn't played or is even in Columbia.
Brock Stadnik - 4 star IDK, hasn't played
Overall, still early for the '12 and '11 guys. I think we are a deep enough team that we SHOULDN'T expect any freshman to come in right away like Lattimore did. Also, it often takes 2 full seasons for these guys to get up to SEC speed of things.

Also noticed that we had a better track record for player development since Spurrier got here.
