National media needs to light a fire under SCHSL an embarrass each and every member of the board who voted today.

This is why alot of our top level athletes leave this state. Carlos Dunlap hated this state so bad after politics kept him off the Shrine Bowl team.
Robert Quinn had no interest attending Clemson or USC when SCHSL made Fort D forfeit all their games in 2007, which he felt was unjust. I know the players at GC are hurting. They didn't do anything wrong, yet the team was basically given a death sentence. Don't be surprised if Gerald Turner does not play in the Shrine Bowl, and Jalen Stevens and Mke Myers skip the North/South. Gerald may even open his recruiting and decide to get the hell out SC. |

While I know the media stated that the young man in question was a "special needs" child/ person, they haven't exactly come out and said what his diagnosis was.
Another angle to attack this from would be to find the group that champions this young man's disability and have them pick up the torch on the National level. |

He is "special needs" due to behavioral issues. He has been is something like 7 different foster homes across the state over the past 4 years.

I googled searched this topic and read an article from Forbes. Apparently, States have statutes that deal with special needs children in regards to athletics. South Carolina has statutes but the SCHSL Executive Committee has chosen to ignore them. I think it might be time for the Attorney General to become involved. |

Let me see if I get what happened here. GC let a kid with some serious issues play for their team. Said kid was not a star by any stretch and saw limited if any playing time. His eligibility was in question (or they knew he was ineligible). I get the whole following the rules thing, but from what I've read here the SCHSL uses loopholes and loose interpretations a fair amount. Does seem like a crock, especially if the kid wasn't a superstar winning games.

I have about as much respect for the SCHSL as I do for the NCAA. Actually, I have a little bit more for the NCAA b/c at least they would have let the punishment fit the crime, especially when no competitive advantage was gained, there was no intent to deceive, and they are truly helping this kid. I just hope that this kid doesn't start to think that he is to blame for all this. From my understanding his attitude toward life has really turned around in a positive way since he got to Goose Creek and started playing football, not just because he might play but because of the true "team" atmosphere that they have there. Heck, they are more of a family, something this kid has been missing in his life, and sorely needed. All in all, I hope that this kid keeps on the positive track that he is now on thanks to all the help and positive influences he's received at GCHS. |

Goose Creek was railroaded. Singleton and his puppets were not about to let GC back in. The attorney for GC stated he knew in the first few mins they were not going to overturn or grant mercy.
Tramel and Gerald Turner said they will not participate in the Shrine Bowl to represent SC. Listen to Jerome Singleton dodge questions on his interview. http://sportstalkgolive.com/index.ph...-ruling-audio/ |

Is asking for relief on grounds that SCHSL didn't follow fed. law adopted in 1973. Also may have grounds on ADA from 1991.
