Well there's the issue Gruden, Shaw and Stoops are not possible. Ward is ok fallback fallback fallback option. Not many people will want to follow spurrier here if he continues trajectory. Lessee: 1) Strong; 2) Malzahn; 3) Dykes; 4) Stockstill; 5) Petrino; 6) Wolford; 7) Tressell. If I'm going to hire a coordinator I'm going to hire someone I at least know is calling the defense like John Chavis. Kirby Smart could be just on staff to fetch Nick's lunch. All the other guys are actionable winning head coaches.

This may be crazy talk, but I'd like to see us go after Nick Saban. He would be the ultimate "Frank Martin" hire for football. He's on record as stating that he wants Alabama to be feared. He's won titles an established himself as a head coach. In 5-6 years he will have accomplished pretty much everything he can at Alabama. If he doesn't go back to the pros it would be an easy sell. He would have the chance to lead a winning program and do something no coach has done before: win championships at 3 SEC schools, and have a legacy equal or greater than Bryant and Spurrier.

Hey I wouldn't complain at the introductory conference. He's worth every penny.

Here's my list of coaches to succeed Spurrier: Ward and Elliott.

Petrino isn't an option here, stockstill??? BAHAHAHAHAHA, wolfed is a big fat NO and tressell is retired it looks like. If you think for 1 second that Kirby smart is merely an errand boy, you are mistaken.
