2012...Best Conference Ever?

Is THIS year the best a conference has been in the history of college football? I know the SEC has been beyond great but THIS year... with the addition of TAMU... There are 6 teams in the SEC that could play/beat any team in the nation. Question for you older folks... have you seen a better conference ever?

It's pretty incredible... Us, Bama, LSU, UF, UGA, and aTm could line up with the top 6 from any other conference and DESTROY them.

Seems really top heavy this year. UK has been competitive recently and UT obviously is garbage, so is mizzou, also r-kansas and auburn are horrible. Ole Miss and MSU are competitive this season though. Still seems top heavy.

There was a time back in the 60's that the Southwest Conference was quite the power house. Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Oklahoma, were all legit. But I'm not sure how they would stack up against modern day SEC.

55 years old and been watching college football my entire life, and no there has never been a conference that had six teams that could beat any other team in the nation.

This. The top teams in the SEC are quite good across the board, but like you mentioned, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are really the only mediocre teams in the conference -- everyone else after them is awful. I'm also not totally sold on Georgia and Florida, what with Georgia's blowout loss to us and the fact Florida's offense is even more painful to watch than ours.

I guess you could say there's more parity in the SEC this year, but I don't think this is the best it's been.

How teams were ranked at least at one point during the season? 7 or 8 I think.

6 teams in the top 10? that's not top heavy, that is almost half the conference. Then you have Vanderbilt with 9 wins top 25.

What about bowl season? The second best SEC team went down to a Big East team and LSU, who beat Scar and Texas A&M, lost to an ACC team.

Two of the other teams that played musical chairs in the top 10 all year struggled with Big 10 teams.

So only two SEC teams dominated their bowl game, and one of them is still really a Big 12 team.

so let me get this straight... the SEC is only good if the dominate the game? last i checked... the bowl games are supposed (doesnt always happen. see Fla st vs NI) to pair a team with an equal team. A win is a win stupid. Congrats on the quality win. it only took dabo 5 years

The same SEC teams will be in the top 10 again in 2013....SC, GA, Fla, Bama, LSU, and A&M....who's not going to be there. A&M could slip with losses on the OL.
