I have a hard time seeing him end up at Tennessee unless the money is downright ridiculous, connections to the university or not.

Gruden just seems like an NFL guy and he's going to have his pick of jobs this offseason. And we're not talking Browns, Jaguars, etc. here. He's going to be looking at opportunities with the Eagles, Chargers, even Dallas potentially - premier jobs on teams loaded with talent.

According to the Vols staff at their 247 site, Gruden called the Special Teams coach there (who was also interested in our opening last year apparently) to inquire about his interest in joining Gruden at UT.

If nothing is announced by mid December and NFL teams start getting into the mix then I believe you will be right.

A bunch of reputable people within the TN organization and our most reputable reporters have gone on record as saying this is a very real possibility and that Gruden is strongly considering TN over the NFL.

His wife very much wants to move home, he would have more time with his family, he could total control over everything at the college level, would be able to assemble an elite recruiting staff and have his pick of the top talent every year.

Not only that but you become a God at the college level if you are successful. The NFL you are just another name.

Also in the NFL the coach only has so much say what players come in. The GM and Ownership have much more control of those decisions.

Huh? He got oakland to 12-4 and lost in the AFC championship. His final record with Oakland was 38-26 (0.59). Then went to Tampa, won the first year with Dungy's team. Then had two decent seasons where he lost in the wildcard game. He ended up 500 in Tampa.

He may end up at UT and succeed with recruiting and the right coordinators but he will be to UT what Dabo is to Clemson, a personality that kids like but if they know what's best little input elsewhere.

Read what I am saying. I am commenting on the people that don't give credit to Jon Gruden for winning a Super Bowl because he did it with "Tony Dungy's players".

My rebuttle to those people is that he won that Super Bowl against a team full of "HIS PLAYERS" one year after he left Oakland they were in the Super bowl.

So you can't say one without including the other.

The fact of the matter is he is a SUPER BOWL winning coach and has also taken teams to the playoffs 5 times and the Conference title games twice.

He is a home run hire.
