This is the first I've heard Chad Morris' name. I would be shocked if Gus Malzahn is named Arkansas' head coach. He's a good coach, no doubt, but only 1 year of college head coaching is not enough right now. James Franklin has been contacted by Arkansas.

Morris just needs to be sure he has an exit strategy.........for when it comes to his turn to get thrown under the bus.

I think Morris will be like Charlie Strong. He will wait for a coaching job at a "big" school before he left. Strong could have had a head coaching job many years before he took the job a Louisville but waited. He's doing a pretty good job too.
Ark, UT, TCU or any other school at that level come calling and he is gone. Doesn't matter if he thinks they can win a NC. I do think he will be at Clemson for one more year though. JMO |

Arkansas has been pretty consistent about hiring guys though. They hired Danny Ford, then ?, Then Nutt, Then Petrino, right? Pretty decent list of experienced head men. No brad scotts or ron zooks or mike shulas or the like.

Nutt was after Ford. And don't forget Lou Holtz and Ken Hatfield, they were pretty good too.

Ahh ok. I don't see any scrub coordinators learning how to coach on that list.

It's hilarious that some of you think SC is a better job than Arkansas. This thread has really brought the laughs. Arkansas has better facilities, more money, and is a tradition rich football school. Unfortunately for y'all being good for two years does not erase SC's forgettable football past. The ONLY thing SC has that Arkansas doesn't is more in state talent but even still you split that with an in state rival as well as the rest of the SEC trying to cherry pick.
Arkansas is to "big time" of a program to offer a guy like Chad Morris at this point in his career. IMO, they will go after Patterson if he turns them down maybe Charlie Strong since he is from Arkansas. If TCU becomes vacant they COULD make a play for Morris, we'll see. |

So SC is a better job than Arkansas b/c of Bama and lsu? Can you say, "grasping at straws"? The only thing you have over them is baseball. Definitely not football or basketball. As stated earlier, WAY more money, considerably better facilities, and WAY, WAY, more tradition at Arky. What planet are some of you are on?

They're not my team. 30 years ago? They played in a BCS bowl in 2010 and finished #5 in the country last year. They won 10 games in 06. Yes, they have a ton of money in Northwest Arkansas, Wal Mart, Tyson, JB Hunt, Dillards, Jim Lindsey, Jerry Jones, forbes listed them as the 8th most valuable program in college football last year. Do your homework, and please keep up.
